My One bedroom Parkdale/Roncesvalles flat is available for short sublet rentals starting in June. Know of anybody who needs a spot while in the city? Feel free to reach out.

Great size living room and huge kitchen, big bedroom with queen bed. Utilities and Wi-Fi included front porch on a quiet street, shared backyard. No laundry on site, and no parking.

I’m putting it up here before advertising anywhere else, to try and keep it within a few degrees of separation to save any hassle hopefully.

#1964 .

Broken headstock. And sitting in a case unused with much rust, cobwebs and the like. I tried to match the headstock repair, then relic it enough to take attention away from any scars on the original crack, and to make the instrument seem it’s age rather than Looking like a brand-new, shiny head stock on a 60 year old guitar.

This thing is a real beauty. And once repaired, then cleaned up and polished it really pops.

Made them play together like long lost friends eventhough they hardly know each other. Set them up as close to each other as possible.

Oh, that on the left? That’s the creation on . Best to go to his or Steve’s IG for info on that. But, it feels and sounds insanely good. The he installed (with a parallel/series toggle 💦🤓) rules the world IMHO. Can’t say enough good things about that ax.

Oh. And I put one of my custom walnut thumbrest/tug bars on the . Small potatoes in comparison, I know. I should’ve started off with that and worked my way up.

Beauty belonging to and built by . It’s beautifully assembled. I installed a . Hides under the scratch plate and does all kinds of cool sounds different than a regular esquire or regular . It’s hard to explain… it’s just different okay?? There’s nothing wrong with being different. Be yourself. Goes for electric guitars as well.

1964-65 / 1487 with an built in! Yeah! Sweet too!

This thing got a new nut cut for wider/proper string spacing, and a lot of random fret re-seating, re-glueing and then fret spot levelling and recrowning. The loose frets made it a chore to isolate the buzzes and high frets for real, as over time they’ve decided to pop up from their already suspect, original installation methods.

Regardless, this is an eternally cool looking machine.

Oh, hey. I didn’t see you there. You caught me noodling in my music nook.

Just a heads up to those needing some stringed instrument work/setups/repairs done, I am accepting instruments at the moment and as always, offer pretty quick turnaround times for those itching to woodshed and play their instruments during lockdown and the cold winter months.

I’m happy to do contactless porch exchanges at my place, or whatever feels / works best with your comfort level in these continually and forever “uncertain times”🙄.

Feel free to slide into the ol’ DM, with any questions or to book a drop off.

One of the rarer items to find for vintage or vintage style bass guitars is the curved that have all but disappeared, and seem to be no longer in production. wanted one on this beaut, so I carved a bunch up, the dimensions from the photos online.

Sanded and polished it up then gave her a full setup. This thing is long and lean and not to far in-between. I have no idea what that means. But I always remembered saying it in my favourite movie .

acoustic that had its bridge fly up and needed to get re~glued down proper. Then installed a dual pickup that Dave wanted installed for a while.

A setup and a few adjustments later and this thing sings real nice, plain ol’ acoustic or amplified.

and it’s a real beaut of a doozie.

This 1989 was snuck away from it’s owner just long enough to get a full , new nut and overhaul and then be wrapped and gifted back to said owner for Christmas.

Timeline was tight, but it got done and this thing and it’s pickups sounds stellar good. Thanks for letting me at this and also to for being the only place where I could get new fret wire within a reasonable timeframe in Southern Ontario.

This parts fender esquire showed up here with a left-handed Stratocaster neck, and a three way switch that just didn’t work at all. Every position was just the bridge pick up straight out to the amp. That’s not necessarily a bad thing but having an esquire wired up as it should be is a pretty sweet thing. Anyhoo, this relict beauty is going to walk out of here with a sweet licensed replacement neck and a three way switch working AND the Eldred mod for the third position. I’m not gonna explain what that is but feel free to Google it. Thanks for trusting me with this Beaut.

Years of living in Mexico has left this bass deeply tanned or mildly scorched depending on who you talk to.

This “student” model dates to the early-mid 70’s and beyond the usual setup and checkup, it needed its neck “persuaded” out of the heavy relief position more so than a truss rod could do on its own. The high action and bulgy heel left this bass unplayable after the 8th fret. Once persuaded (in steps) by back-bowing the neck and re-fastening the truss rod’s bolt… a more proper flat neck appeared with room to adjust relief in either direction. Hand made a custom walnut thumb rest for good measure as well and hit a few high frets with a file and recrown.

Back to at it goes.

Here’s the step brother of the 1973 I posted last week. This parts bass was assembled beautifully many a moon ago. Active sing sweetly in this machine. The unbranded neck (may very well be a licensed fender) has an incredible feel.

Got a full set up, and some trial and error shimming at the bolt on heel to compensate for a slightly upward neck bulge.

Another exceptional walked in here that got a few mods along with the obligatory set-up: new chrome bridge plate and saddles and a set of fluence pickups with proprietary control panel and electronics. This sounds amazing and is DEAD quiet.

Also, this all rosewood neck is the bomb.

Man, myth, legend. of and with his that was here for some action adjustments. The fine folks at keep Jeff well stocked with both bass and guitar strings. In the near decade that I’ve worked with him, I can see and hear why he uses them exclusively. Incredibly balanced tonally, individually as well as a group. Even though that doesn’t need much help to sing.

Continuing on with posts featuring sweet …

There’s good news, and bad news, about not being able to re-wind pickups yet. The bad news: I can’t rewind pickups yet. YET. The good news: you get to send the pickups for rewinding to a real pro like TJ Silljer at

This well-played, well-loved and well-rocked of of had half a dead stock pickup that TJ rectified back to its former glory 🙏🏼. •

The rest: some spot fret levelling, a full recrown, polish, fingerboard reviving (via sweet conditioning concoction) and full setup and electronics touch-ups… and now, this machine is what the millennials refer to as . The thump of a and the point of a Best of all possible worlds with a ton of mojo to spare.

An extra big real pleasure to work on this one. •
