Feeling a bit limited using chisels using my hand as a mallet, so decided to build one out of some cherry and walnut which went surprisingly smoothly. Still not 100% set on the design and will probably shape the handle to conform to my hand a bit more, but for now it's functional which is good enough. Made a time-lapse of the build using a GoPro strapped to my chest, unfortunately it is completely unusable as it looks like I am just running all over the house, constantly shaking.
The mallet was a pretty basic starting place for tool building but I’m happy with how it turned out and hoping to try making more tools in the future.
