The birthday box was one of the first arrangements I came up with because so many of my friends were spending their 30th birthdays in isolation and I wanted to feel connected. ⁣
⁣
At the time, I honestly couldn’t imagine that nearly 6 months later—as I (sort of) approach my 30th—we’d still be socially and physically distancing. My grand plans for my dirty/flirty thirty are no longer happening (I was going to have pizza slice lanyards as loot bags) but I’m lucky that we have an outdoor space where I’ve been able to carefully gather with friends. I’ve felt as connected as possible in these weird times, and hope you all get that, too. ⁣

I finally figured out how to organize the website so that you can easily purchase one-off items to create custom boxes. Choose between ‘Curated Boxes’ and ‘Pick & Mix’ on the main page!⁣

Because I didn’t know how to do it, I kept putting it off even though I knew it was important. Now it’s here and it’s not perfect, but you can mix and match your favourite items to curate your own perfect box. ⁣

So... I dropped off the face of the IG earth there for a bit. July has felt like a full business burnout. I’d pumped so much in physically, emotionally and financially to this little nugget of love that by the end of June I felt a bit deflated. Honestly, I was so focussed on helping out during the pandemic that I didn’t really check in with the pace of .TO until I didn’t want to look at it for a bit. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
But! I’ve taken time away and am ready to love it again. A privilege that comes with a passion project and not a livelihood. It wasn’t serving me in that moment so I could let it go a little. Not everyone has that luxury.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The pandemic isn’t nearly over—we’re all tired—and our communities still need support. And so I hope that .TO can continue to bring joy to others by working with small businesses in the GTA.⁣⁣ For as long as this lasts.
⁣⁣
To all of you with a small business. DEAR LORD do I see you and respect you. How you pour yourself into something no matter how tough and isolating it can be... you’re pretty cool. I like you. ⁣
