Work in progress ✨

Since I started working with red clay, I've been feeling more drawn into it. I enjoy its texture, boldness, and earthy feel. It has such a strong presence and energy.

Of course, I still appreciate white clays and the colorful possibilities they offer. They are like a blank canvas for us to create and experiment and I love that.

But, there's something else about the energy of red clay… ✨

How about you? Which type of clay do you resonate with the most?

The spiral: a timeless pattern that captivates people all over the world, mirroring one of nature’s most beautiful patterns.

The piece: a ceramic spoon rest crafted from rustic dark brown clay with a central spiral, brought to life by a vibrant turquoise reactive glaze, creating a captivating, one-of-a-kind look.

A tactile experience in the form of a mug.

Exploring contrast.

The smooth and glossy white glaze against the bare and rough clay. The plasticity of the raw clay that allows me to play with curves against the rigidity and toughness of a finished stoneware ceramic piece.

Now I’m wondering: does beauty really lie in harmony?

Small details, big difference.

Lately, I've been focusing on refining my work by studying shape and ergonomics. It’s no surprise that there is a whole world of experimentation involved in this process.

But one simple thing that I’ve already been trying to implement in my pieces is the intentional refinement of the rims. A small change, such as a tweak to a squared rim, can turn a mug into a more aesthetically pleasing piece and also influence the perception of its weight.

What's your take on this? Can you spot the difference? Do you think it's worth putting in the effort to work on these little details? Let me know in the comments below 😉

A hug in a mug. 🧡

A warm, comforting mug that brings you back to earth with contrasting yet soothing textures and inviting curves.

A rounded heart shape that makes you want to run your fingers over it, exploring every single detail and fully immersing yourself in the moment.

Oh, indeed, it feels like a hug in a mug. ✨

Stages of a mug. ✨

Probably my favorite thing about clay is its plasticity and all the things it allows us to do.

I like stretching the clay as much as it will allow me to, so I can play around with shapes and curves. (I have to admit, the reclaiming part isn’t so fun, but it’s part of the process. 🫠)

It’s amazing what you can do with a simple cylinder, and this mug is just one little example.
