"Hi, Elon. What? No, you can't strap a rocket to it and send it to Mars. Because it's a cake stand. I know, I know, it totally looks like a spaceship, but that's just the fabulous atomic MCM design thing. Yes, good for cupcakes and candy and cookies and macarons and squares and all that stuff, but astronauts? Not so much. Sorry, Elon - good talk, though. Love to the family. Hey, Christmas is coming, am I going to find a Tesla under the tree this year? Elon? Elon?"

He hung up. Weird. But I understand the confusion, this cake stand is so shiny and sleek and just the epitome of space-age design. True vintage, made by Kromex - masters of MCM serveware, a real collector's piece. I love this thing so much, I've had it since March! I staged it with some Easter treats and then just kept it around because it's so pretty to look at, but it deserves a home where it gets used properly for entertaining (and since I live in my shop, that's not me right now!😂) so I'm finally listing it.

Approx 15" tall and the whole thing can be disassembled for easy storage (although it's so beautiful, it really deserves to be displayed!). The widest plate is approx 12.75" across, the medium is 8.5", and the smallest is 6.5". Excellent condition - a few minor scratches, but they are mostly on the bottom plate so can't really be seen when assembled. Also, the whole damn thing is SO shiny, you'd really have to go looking to find the flaws.

$60 CAD + shipping. If you can pick up in downtown TO, free parking is available. DM me to purchase. All my items are vintage or pre-loved so may have minor imperfections appropriate to their age and history. Any major flaws have been noted. Thank you for supporting small business!

🍍SOLD🍍 This Art Deco style jaguar/panther is feline good (sorry, never met a pun I didn’t like) about selling so fast, but I think he deserves a square on the feed because he's so damn awesome! I’ve seen lots of ceramic big cats, but this one is solid metal (11 lbs!!!), which is very unusual. Will I ever find another one???🙀

🍍SOLD🍍 - This sunburst clock never even made it to the shop because it sold so fast, but I'm sharing it anyway because it's so damn pretty! 😍 I slightly regret selling it, but luckily I got to enjoy it for a little while before my client picked it up.

Trying to run a small business from a small apartment is a challenge, especially when that business means that your home is constantly full of THINGS. Awesome things, yes, but still.

I do have high ceilings, though, so my plan was to have all vertical storage - but then I found this epic vintage metal steamer trunk in the trash. If there's one thing I can't bear, it's seeing perfectly good furniture go to landfill, so I dragged this heavy beast home and here it stays, living its best horizontal storage life and vexing me with how much floorspace it occupies.

However, it does earn its keep by being an awesome treasure chest for storing a great many of the THINGS. So these are just a few of the things which will be coming out of the treasure chest for sale over the next little while... stay tuned!

It's World Cocktail Day! So I got inspired to give you a sneak peek at samples of some of the vintage barware I'll be featuring in my first sale, which will probably happen next week: Libbey pine cone glasses (I have six), Murano style lemon and grapes, MCM style martini glasses (two of those), classic champagne coupes with gold "bubbles" around the rim (set of four) and an Italian ice bucket from the 1970s.

It's also the day we Ontarians just found out that after five looong weeks of full lockdown, we now have another three weeks to look forward to.😩 And yes, I know it's necessary, but I'm not gonna lie, I'll need more than one cocktail to get through it!🍸🍹🍸

"Hello, Fancy Mirror Addicts Anonymous? I might need help..." 😂 No, really. If it's any shade of gold and has any detailing whatsoever, I'm on it like Snow White's wicked stepmother. But wait, you say - isn't that one on top just an empty frame? It was. But I turned it INTO a mirror. 🤷‍♀️ I just can't stop myself...but I do sell them on to help other FMA (Fancy Mirror Addicts). Most of these are already gone, but once this lockdown is over, I'll be hunting for more and posting them here. Are you a fellow FMA?

My home office! Okay, not really but I had to go to Niagara Falls very briefly on business a couple of weeks ago, and even though I’ve seen it before, there was no way I was going to be in town and not take a moment to see this incredible natural wonder again. The entrepreneur’s life can be hard, but sometimes it does have an upside, like being able to experience THIS on a random weekday morning!😍 (And may I add that when we can all travel safely again, you should come for a proper visit and bring your much-missed tourist dollars- there is so much to see and do in the area, not just the Falls: beautiful Niagara-on-the-Lake, tons of amazing wineries, and gorgeous scenery!)

So here’s a little story about the thrifter’s life - I was super-excited to get out thrifting again after a looooong break from it and I found a bunch of great vintage stuff, most of which was small and breakable. But at the last store I went to, I found a pair of these gorgeous mid-century modern side tables for a great price. Obviously I nab them, thinking I’ll just rearrange all the other stuff in the back of the car to fit them in but when I’m walking through the parking lot, the light drizzle suddenly turned into an absolutely torrential downpour. So there I am, soaked to the skin, can barely see anything through this wall of water, desperately trying to jam these two in without breaking anything else. I finally managed it (photo 3, taken later in a dry place!), got them home (photo 2), and had a good time quickly staging one of them (photo 1). Happy to say they have already sold, but jeez, some days are definitely more challenging than others!😂🌧
