Niska Artisans

Niska Artisans Housed by MCCs Indigenous Neighbours program, Niska supports Indigenous artisans in northern Ontario. This Land is part of Treaty 9, James Bay Treaty 1905/06.

The Niska program is hosted on the traditional Lands of the Cree and Anishinaabe peoples, today Mattagami, Flying Post, Matachewan and Wahgoshig. Housed by Mennonite Central Committee's Indigenous Neighbours program, this fair trade program seeks to both educate patrons about the unique cultures in Ontario’s far north and works to preserve a way of life that is being lost. “Niska” is Cree for goose; the life-giver for hunters in northern First Nations.
