Amethyst is Ontario’s Gemstone, the jewel of lovers, the birthstone for February, and a unique reminder of your visit to the Thunder Bay area. It’s a glittering gemstone from nature’s mineral treasure chest, in the rugged bushland north of Lake Superior. For more than 3 decades, our family has worked our Purple Haze Amethyst Mine, 1000 feet above Lake Superior, by drilling, wedging and prying amet
hyst out of seams and vugs along a great granite fault. If you travelled through the Thunder Bay, Ontario area between 1989 and 2005, you might have met us at our roadside amethyst trailer in the small town of Kakabeka Falls. Tucked between the Shake Shoppe and the Odena Grocery store for 17 summers, our small shop with the amethyst covered tables and the big purple signs was a fixture by the side of the Trans Canada Highway. Our retail gift shop location is now home-based at 22 Knight Street in Thunder Bay. Here, we offer fine amethyst crystals and clusters direct from our mine, as well as beautiful amethyst giftware, jewelry and gemstones crafted in our workshop. Whether you are from Thunder Bay or travelling through, we look forward to meeting you. We offer the finest amethyst specimens, from beautiful crystals and clusters for home or office, to large museum-quality showpieces. Our amethyst comes to you in a variety of shades from richest royal purple to delicate lavender. When the long, cold northern winter sets in, we retreat to our workshop to craft a wide range of gift and decorative items featuring amethyst from our Purple Haze Amethyst Mine. These items make ideal presentation pieces for family members, friends, or colleagues. Or, enjoy one in your own home. Our product line includes:
Faceted amethyst pendants and earrings set in sterling silver. Amethyst clocks and pen sets. Tumble polished amethyst earrings and pendants. Amethyst keychains. Tumble-polished amethyst stones. Pewter figure on amethyst scenes. Inukshuk giftware. Landscape amethyst.
