I know I’ve been slacking on my social media game, and that’s actually the reason for this post.

I’m looking for some help from my community. I’m reaching out to anyone who’s tired of waiting for change to come and wants to work together to build something better. I know there are other communities doing this work already, but through my educational journey I’ve mostly seen barrier after barrier put in front of them.

What I’m trying to do is help re-establish relationships—
within ourselves, and with the community around us (the communal self).

I believe many of the issues we’re facing right now come back to identity: trying to fit into molds that were never meant to hold us. Molds designed not to help us find ourselves, but to sell us a version of who we’re supposed to be.

So this is a callout to anyone who wants to try something different—
to heal.

I’m not a doctor. I’m not a therapist. I’m just Mii.
I’ve knocked on that door like so many others. I’ve been lucky enough to find my way back to the path when many haven’t—and I don’t want to lose any more people if I can help it.

Wii need to heal, and I want to help.

Come as you are. None of us are perfect.
The difference between us and the problem is this:
we’re willing to face healing instead of running from it.

Let’s not let the lessons life has given us go to waste any longer.
This ends with Mii.

Who’s with Mii?

If this speaks to you, please reachout!

Boozhoo Kinaawayaa, (Greetings, all my relations)

I just wanted to share my new piece, "Unity in community.". This piece was inspired by the reflecting I have been doing both on my life and the world around me. It's what I believe can fix this world, to sit, talk, and heal together.

Unity in Community

At the heart of this artwork, a vibrant fire burns, surrounded by thirteen individuals of varying shades, symbolizing the diversity and richness of a community. The smoke rising from the fire transforms into the shapes of animals, representing the hidden wisdom and perspectives that come to light when we gather, share, and listen to one another.

The fire itself serves as a symbol of connection, its warmth inviting stories and experiences from every individual. As the animals emerge from the smoke, they remind us of the deeper understanding we can uncover through unity and open dialogue.

This piece invites viewers to reflect on how each person’s presence adds value to the collective, emphasizing that by listening and learning from one another, we create a stronger, more harmonious community.

Miigwech! Hope you enjoy 😁

Boozhoo, Everyone!

First, I want to wish a very Happy Birthday to my beautiful mother, Holly! 🥳🎁🎉 While many celebrate Christmas today, for me, it’s about celebrating her. She does so much for others and truly deserves a day that’s all her own. ☺️

This was my thought as I finished this drawing.

Christmas is a time when many of us come together, exchanging gifts, joy, and love. For me, it’s not just about traditions or presents—it’s about being with the people who matter most, sharing moments of love, laughter, and even the harder times. It’s a therapeutic time we all deserve.

We all come from different walks of life, with unique perspectives and traditions. But instead of letting those differences divide us, I see them as our greatest gift. Each of us brings something new to the table—a story, a way of seeing the world, a presence that enriches the lives of others.

During the holidays, we have the opportunity to embrace these differences, to celebrate not in spite of them, but because of them. Imagine how much brighter the world could be if we all took a moment to express gratitude for the diverse threads that weave the fabric of our shared humanity.

This Christmas, let’s embrace the true spirit of the season by focusing on giving—not just material gifts, but the gifts of kindness, understanding, and respect. Together, we can create a ripple effect of positivity that transcends traditions and reminds us that the holidays are about connection and community.

So, whether you celebrate Christmas, another holiday, or simply the season of giving, let’s take this time to appreciate one another, share our stories, and bring more love into the world.

I wish you all warmth, joy, and light this holiday season. Let’s make it a season of togetherness!

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and may you feel the magic of this season in your heart. 🥰🫂

Disclaimer:
This piece is not meant to overshadow Remembrance Day but to honor and unite all who sacrificed for future generations. In this artwork, I recognize both Indigenous veterans and the children who survived residential schools as warriors in their own right. Their strength, resilience, and courage ensured that we could be here today, carrying forward our cultures and our stories.

May this tribute remind us that courage takes many forms, and all who endured these battles deserve to be remembered together.

For Those Who Faced Life’s Hardest Trials:

Not all warriors fought in war. Some endured years in places meant to break them, facing battles of the spirit, heart, and mind. Today, we honor all those who came through these trials—those who emerged from residential schools, survivors of their own battles, alongside veterans who served our nation.

In honoring them, we acknowledge a strength that is more than survival—it’s a legacy of resilience, a victory over adversity, and a gift to future generations. May we remember that true courage takes many forms and is carried by those who give of themselves so others may live.

There’s a common belief that you can’t pour into others if your own cup isn’t full, emphasizing self-care as a prerequisite for giving. But this view can overlook the truth that even when we feel broken or only "half-full," we still have something valuable to offer. A broken glass may not hold as much, but it can still pour in ways that matter.

By challenging the idea that we need to be "whole" to make a difference, we recognize that it’s often through our imperfections and struggles that we’re able to connect most deeply. Our own brokenness allows empathy, resilience, and understanding to flow outward, reaching others in ways that a perfect, unbroken vessel might not.

Sometimes, helping others isn't about overflow but about showing up as we are—cracks and all. It’s a reminder that our worth lies not in how "full" we are but in our willingness to share what we can, even if it's less conventional or limited. We don’t need to be complete to be impactful; sometimes, the most genuine forms of compassion and support come from those who've had to put themselves back together.

All it takes is a single drop of water to cause a ripple.

Boozhoo, everyone!
So iv been really trying to focus on school lately and it's been pretty difficult, learning alot about the pain and suffering of my culture daily, ontop of doing counselling, it has been a very draining and triggering experience. Out of this, iv been doing a lot of healing. This thought came to me today. I hope you like the speech and drawing. Piece is called Generational Chains ☺️ Hope you enjoy it!

"Generational Chains"

Each link in my chain represents a piece of trauma from my past that has shaped me into who I am today. Without these events—good or bad—I wouldn’t be who I am. It’s taken me 32 years to understand how important it is to break these chains and free my inner child.

Growing up, I was never white enough, never native enough—never enough. This stretched the chain, making it feel endless, like the great serpent devouring its own tail. The cycle of generational trauma kept feeding itself, but this trauma ends with me. I refuse to let another child feel worthless or unsafe if I can do something to prevent it. If I can guide others through this pain, then so be it. I’ll do whatever it takes to help—just let me know.

The only way to begin is to listen. Listen to that child inside of you. They will tell you what you need. Be the person you need at your darkest moments. Address each link of your chain individually; stop trying to fix the first link when there are dozens more that need to be removed first. There are no shortcuts, but you control the detours. Not all detours are dark and gloomy—there is always a brighter path forward.

You’ll find that while these chains of trauma may never completely disappear, the key lies in how you manage them. By addressing individual problems, you’ll be surprised at how quickly these chains can feel lighter. Each link is like a knot in a rope; you don’t need to break the chains. Instead, focus on untangling the damage and learning the lessons along the way. Good or bad, you need to untangle the trauma.

Miigwetch! ☺️🫂
