The shop’s been closed since Monday.

For normal people, that’s three days.

For record collectors, that’s approximately three months.

You’ve had almost half a week to be responsible, save money, finish projects, and focus on important things.

Unfortunately, we’re open again at noon.

See you soon.

If you’re a record collector, you already know what today is.

Yesterday was the preview.

Today the records hit the floor.

Some of you have already zoomed in on the photos. Some of you have already made mental notes. Some of you are probably hoping everybody else overlooked the same album you spotted immediately.

That’s the fun of it.

Doors open at noon. The new arrivals are out. What happens after that is between you and the other collectors.

Here’s a quick preview of some of the stock hitting the bins tomorrow.

A little bit of everything this time around, and a few titles I don’t expect to hang around very long.

Limited copies of each. Including only one of some.

Doors open at 12.

One nice day and Thunder Bay immediately remembers it has a downtown.

People are out walking around. Bikes are everywhere. The Waterfront District wakes up. Everybody’s got somewhere to be, but nobody seems to be in much of a hurry.

We’re open today with a pile of new arrivals, used vinyl, collectibles, and all the other stuff that’s been keeping us busy this week.

If you’re downtown, stop in and say hi.

I’m driving from Mississauga back to Thunder Bay over the next couple days and will probably be taking Highway 11 most of the way because apparently I enjoy long stretches of trees, gas stations, and questioning my life choices.

So here’s the important part:

If there are any record stores, antique shops, weird roadside vinyl spots, flea markets, basement treasure caves, or “my uncle has 4000 records in a shed” situations anywhere along the route from Barrie north… let me know.

I know there’s gotta be some hidden gems out there somewhere between “moose crossing” signs and Tim Hortons #37.
