Hello skaters and friends. Just a quick report from Jake's. Last night thanks to Violetta we had a great time at Battle of the Blades. Very entertaining. With regards to my shop it looks like I will be able to work out of this location for another 4 or 5 years. Yahoo. I really like it here. That's all for now. Hello Skating Friends Just a little snippet of my summer so far. Mostly a lot of walking(40km the last two Saturdays) and a little dancing with our special friends. Oh yes the shop will be closed from July 6 until July 22. Enjoy your summer. Jake

Hello Skating Friends I just wanted to say hello and invite you to my Customer Appreciation Day on Saturday May 25 (9 to 4). We will be celebrating my 45th year of figure skate sharpening and my 15th year at this location. There will be coffee, cake and refreshments. The cost of skate sharpening will be $10. All proceeds from skate sharpening will be going to Sick Kids Hospital. Hope to see you here. In the meantime keep moving/skating and having fun. Cheers Jake and Zeljka

Hello Skaters and Friends I just wanted to let you know that I am taking a extended long weekend this weekend. I will be closed September 1,2,3 and 4. Back to work Wednesday September 5 at 9am. Hello Skaters and Friends

Well another season is over. And what a season it was for Canadian Skaters. They did amazing at the Olympics and topped it off with a great Stars on Ice show. The week following the show I was honoured to have David Wilson visit my shop. He choreographed two of my favourite numbers in the show.
For myself I had fun skating and improved a little. I participated in the adult number at Markham's skating show. It was excellent as usual.
An exciting event this past season was the mini documentary Six Point Productions created for Jake's Figure Skate Sharpening. Kelly and Clara did a great job. Most of you have probably seen it already. If not here is the link.

One other event at Jake's was the shooting of a small scene for a film Roman stars in. That was an interesting experience. I will tell you more about it when it comes out.
Now for the greatest event that happened to Jake this past year. I met the love of my life. Her name is Zeljka.(no she is not a skater). We are getting married Sunday June 17. I will be closing the shop Thursday June 14 at noon for the weekend. The following week I work Monday June 18th until Thursday June 21. We will Honeymoon from Friday June 22 until Sunday July 8. Back to work Monday July 9 at 9am.
Below the first picture of us is Zeljka meeting my dad Rene for the first time. The second picture we are visiting my dad and stepmother Anita in Florida.

Hello Skating Fans

I just wanted to let you know that I will be on vacation from December 24 until January 1st. Many of my skaters going to Canadians in Vancouver the following weekend have already booked appointments for Tuesday January 2nd and the day after. I am recommending the Synchronized Skating Teams going to Winterfest try to get their skates sharpened before December 24. I will work extra hours if needed. Just give me a call.
