**Update on our Return policy.***

A few reasons for this…

Due to the bad economy and the recession, we are entering, we have seen an increase in people trying to sell anything to the store.
Literally , Anything…. from the clothes they’re wearing to household items to toys and electronics. Even eye glasses or shoes on their feet and a whole bunch of other things.  It’s getting bad out there.

 Additionally Thamesville Surplus has  seen an increase of people trying to return stuff to Thamesville Surplus bought at other stores or picked out of dumpsters.  There is about 8 other stores in the area selling similar product to me Costco returns, etc.. (we are ALWAYS the best price)

I have had people try to return stuff with stickers on it directly from a Ridgetown stores or Chatham stores or even from a Wallaceburg store. The best was a DVD player that was bought from Jerry the former owner 6 years ago.
As far as I know most liquidation/surplus stores don’t do returns.

I’ve had people threatened me with Legal action for a $15 item  because they were upset at me. I wouldn’t do a return for them because clearly they didn’t buy it from Thamesville Surplus or they threatened to slander the stores name online when they didn’t purchase the item at my store.

People have known for a long time that I take care of my customer. I have been very generous with returns for five years. Due to the recent scams going on I’ve had to  adjust how we handle returns going forward.  John has the final decision. The girls cannot do returns.

Again, we’re always the best price here at Thamesville Surplus. If you find it cheaper somewhere bring me a video of the item on the shelf at the store or bring a copy of their flyer. And I will beat it by at least 10%. Sometimes I do as much as 20%…. Excludes the Costco convenience buys.

So this is the new thief that has been coming into Thamesville Surplus. We caught him on video May 7th stealing a bunch...

So this is the new thief that has been coming into Thamesville Surplus. We caught him on video May 7th stealing a bunch of clothes. (None his size). In the past I’ve given him warnings about stealing and threatened to called the police. 

I gave him a tent. Warm blankets. Hoodies jeans, socks, underwear, and T-shirts.
I also gave him a case of Diet Coke a bunch of chocolate and some groceries out of my own cupboard.

This guy seemed like a gentleman, a decent guy at first. Down his luck needing help. Lost puppy kind of guy.

After I caught him stealing the first time personally I asked him never to do it again and I wouldn’t call the police on him if he stopped doing it. He’s swore to me he would never do it again.

He came in on April 30th. He thought it was a good idea to tell me about how stupid the people in Thamesville are, including  the lady at the United Church that brings food to his tent and the people in town that gave him money at Circle K to buy food. He told me he uses the money to buy “fenny”. Which I deduce is fentanyl. He showed me a backpack full of sandwiches from circle K a few weeks back.

Just sharing my observations and experiences.

I am posting this to my store page and the crossroads to the future group.

I think people in Thamesville should know.
I think giving him money enables his drug addiction.
