The Casket: She stores her precious fruit inside a traditional ash-wood box called an eski. She carries the fruit in case of an emergency, And no matter how many she takes out, same number remains.
Name Meaning: Her name translates from Old Norse to mean "rejuvenator" or "ever young".
The Famous Myth: The Kidnapping of Iðunn
According to the Prose Edda written by Snorri Sturluson, Iðunn is the centerpiece of a major crisis in Asgard:
Loki's Betrayal: The trickster god Loki is captured by the giant Þjazi (Thiassi). To save his own life, Loki promises to lure Iðunn out of the safety of Asgard.
The Abduction: Loki tricks her into a forest by claiming he found even better apples. Þjazi, disguised as a massive eagle, swoops down and kidnaps her, taking her to Jötunheimr.
The Withering Gods: Without access to her magic fruit, the gods rapidly grow grey, wrinkled, and weak.
The Rescue: The desperate gods threaten Loki with death unless he fixes his mess. Borrowing Freyja’s falcon-feather cloak, Loki flies to Jötunheimr, transforms Iðunn into a nut, and flies back with her in his talons.
The Resolution: Þjazi pursues them in eagle form, but the gods set fire to wood shavings on Asgard's walls, burning the giant's wings and killing him. Iðunn is safely restored, and the gods regain their youth.
I feel a pull to her! ❤️❤️❤️
