Wonderful time, squeezing in a quick post-work / pre-rain trad lap with Steve, who heads up Australian distribution through ! We always love to show off our beautiful backyard, which is where we conceive and test all of our products.

Next up is to take him out to our local gym (while it rains), followed by a little sport cragging!

The CWA Summit in Salt Lake City is just over a week away and we can’t wait to see all of our climbing industry friends there!

Introducing your newest climbing companion - the coloured Chalktopus! Just in time for the Holidays!

More than just new colours, we also upgraded the Chalktopus to be more planet friendly, with tentacles made from post consumer recycled materials! The Crocus and Teal feature 94% recycled content while the white are 64% recycled by weight (this will improve to 94% soon as well!).

We are so very proud of Midnight Lightning athlete Laura Pineau, on her incredible first female ascent of “Wet Lycra Nightmare” 5.13D (A0)! This route, located in Yosemite CA on the Leaning Tower consists of 9 pitches with the V9 / 5.13 D crux high on the wall, followed by sustained 5.13 climbing to the top!

Laura has been absolutely on fire with other notable ascents including becoming the first woman (along with partner Kate Kelleghan) to complete the Yosemite Triple Crown.

Keep on reaching new heights Laura!

At Midnight Lightning, we operate as if every day is Earth Day. Eco-responsibility is baked into our ethos and is exhibited in every product that we develop. It has been like this since we were founded, with a focus on bringing product sustainability to the climbing space. We started with our industry-first liquid chalk refill ecosystem in order to save more plastic from entering landfills and today, we continue to innovate.

It’s in the little things. From our choices in materials (like using dead stock fabrics and plant-based fibres), to less overt things like designing the plastic-free hangers for our Chalktopus. We can take risks and do things that larger corporations don’t have the flexibility to do. Our Seawater Chalk, the Vegan Eco-Brush and refill program are all examples of this.

For the coming year, we are looking to further reduce packaging waste, improve efficiencies, utilize more recycled (and dead stock) content, commit to ESG’s, expand our supplier code of conduct and continue to give back to our awesome community!

We are planet-focused. We follow our hearts. We take risks. We are climbers that care. This is the difference between us and the others.
