Join us for the Community Organized Stitch Night this Tuesday June 9th from 5:30pm - 8:30pm in Toronto!
This is a great opportunity to finish off projects, meet up with old friends, make new ones and share a little show and tell. Bring a friend, drop in and enjoy some company while working away on your personal projects.
The Community Organized Stitch Night is taking place at the Contemporary Textile Studio Co-operative and is a pay-what-you-can event. The space includes a huge work surface and good lighting perfect for handwork and project planning! If you would like to bring your own sewing machine or serger there is space to accommodate machines as well.
The Contemporary Textile Studio Co-operative is located at 401 Richmond Street, Studio 109 with lots of parking options near by as well as the Spadina, Queen and King streetcars in easy walking distance.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the Muskoka Quilts...from the Heart! quilt show happening this week on Friday June 5 and Saturday June 6 in Bracebridge hosted by the Pine Tree Quilter's Guild of Muskoka.
The plan is to fill our booth with all our favourite local maker kits and supplies and we're pulling together some fun bundles from our archive. It is our first time doing this show and we look forward to meeting so many new folks who love all forms of fibre arts. Hope to see you there!

Late last week we got notice that the Merchant & Mills Jacquards are finally back in stock. We were able to quickly put together a round of community preorder items (including some of the coloured denims and a few favourite linens like Louisiana & Rhubarb Toffee!) as we want to make sure we are able to get the inventory while it is still available.
There is a brand new colour of jacquard we've never had before - Winter Coulis a beautiful warm winter plum and popular colours like Viridian Green, Rushes and the Carnival Plaid are available to snag as much as you need!
Everything in the Community Preorder is discounted by 10%. Online Studio community members can use their discount code for an additional 10% off. This preorder will be up until Monday June 8th, but based on stock of a few items (like the Everyday Chambray) will be closed and ordered by midnight today Monday June 1st, so it's best to order early to get in the queue to guarantee you get what you want.

Two of the fabric suggestions for the Nevis Skirt include a 7-10oz denim for a more structured look or linen for a softer look. Luckily our current Merchant & Mills Community Preorder include both of these options if you are looking to make your own Nevis Skirt.

Our first delivery of the newest book from Merchant & Mills, WORKWEAR sold out however we have opened a second preorder for the next delivery. This beautiful new book contains five new patterns with the printed patterns in the back of the book and lots of beautiful inspiration images to help you envision how many ways you can style these classic pieces.
To celebrate the launch of WORKWEAR Merchant & Mills has designed some woven patches for you to sew into your garments. Each pack has five labels: one plain label for your mail bag and four labels with the patterns detailed for you to place in each of the pieces of clothing. Make your mark on these four labels as you check off the patterns in the book: a bartack, a running stitch underline, a cross.⁠ We currently have the labels available for preorder as well!
We'll officially be making the Chore Jacket together for our Fall Community Sew Along - if you bought your copy from the workroom, you'll get a special discount code when we post the registrations soon.

We've been eagerly awaiting a restock of Merchant & Mills Jacquards and it finally happened. As you know they come and go really quickly, so the Community Preorder is the perfect time to place an order for exactly the amount you need for your upcoming projects and workshops.
Our summer Sanda Workshop is the perfect jacket to make with one of the Jacquards. We had a very limited amount of the Viridian Green back in November and we can assure you this is a colour you're going to love. There is also a new colour Winter Coulis - a warm winter plum.
Community Preorder fabrics are discounted by 10% until Monday May 25th at midnight. Members of our online community, the workroom studio can use their member code for an additional 10% off.

The first wave of our Flower Branch Embroidery Quilt Kits started arriving this week and folks have been posting fun photos of their unboxing in the online community space, (including cute cats in the big box after unboxing!). It's been fun to see them landed in their new homes. A complete list of the chambray colours in order of the stack will be posted later today in the online studio so you can label your colours this weekend.
It's not too late to join us for this fun community sew along. There are still two Chambray bundles - or deep dive into your stash for a fun custom version.

What are your upcoming making plans? With the warmer weather and road trip possibilities it is great to have a couple of embroidery kits on hand for when you want to jump into making and not worry about gathering supplies.
Hook, Line & Tinker Embroidery Kits are made in Wolfville, Nova Scotia and hand-crafted in small batches at their home-based studio. Capture the the lilting "yodel" call of the loon in embroidery during a calm evening on the lake sitting next to a campfire. This reflective pattern is first time beginner friendly.
Their Blue Jay pattern has a unique tonal palette of 3 bold colours and features a sampler combination of satin, link, chain, French knot, and back stitch. Designed in Hook Line & Tinker's signature modern, Scandi / Nordic inspired folk style.
The limited colour palette and use of recurring motifs is purposeful - finished hoops hang well as mix-and-match groupings and tell a cohesive story within a theme. Some patterns are easy-peasy first time friendly, others are for ambitious beginners. But all allow for creativity, experimentation, and of course...calm.
