Knit for my graduation in

06/10/2026

I finally walked across the stage with a degree to my name and wearing my most special knit to date!

Warning!! Sappiness incoming!!

I started knitting in my first semester of university, so it feels incredibly full circle to have made my graduation dress to celebrate the journey that brought me here.

When I first started university 6 years ago, I was at a different school, in a different program, and still had so much to discover about the world and myself. While I learned many lessons in the classroom and through the grit it takes to complete a degree while navigating the many seasons and responsibilities of life, knitting has been a constant companion and one of the greatest teachers throughout it all.

What began with a few stitches in blue and gray bulky weight acrylic yarn has opened my mind and heart in ways I never could have expected. Through knitting, Iโ€™ve met so many kind and uplifting friends, explored the depths of my creativity, tested my patience, been introduced to people, communities, ideas, and knowledge I may never have encountered otherwise, and been a source of reflection, meditation, and joy.

This dress is a testament to a craft and a community that I love so dearly โค๏ธ

Nowโ€ฆ what to cast on next?

Spring greens (& yellows) fleece dye with friends taught by the lovely ๐ŸŒŸ

This was my second time playing around with natural dyes and I learned so much! What better way to spend a Saturday than outside in great company playing chemist with wool and plants.

๐Ÿ‘ fleece deets: Barnston Island Wool - Rosemary (gray fleece) & Peasblossom (white fleece)

๐ŸŒฟ plant dye deets: tansy & goldenrod leaves and stems, which both made gorgeous yellow colours! We tested out adding iron to some bits of the fleece for more of a green hue.

Excited to be part of this! ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒฟ
