Important information for my American customers regarding the purchase and/or import of kangaroo leather lace into the United States.

For almost ten years now I have been able to export craft kangaroo leather lace to my customers in the United States without incident. Recently the United States Fish and Wildlife Service unexpectedly began seizing packages that now have a total value of over several thousand dollars. I’m simply grateful that changes of climate in the United States regarding kangaroo leather lace comes at a time when I have retired from my responsibilities as a reseller and have very little inventory remaining.

Although I could do nothing about my customer’s disappointment for their seized product, I immediately took steps to return their money in full. I know that many of my customers will be looking for a new reseller, and I feel compelled to explain that there is a serious financial risk in purchasing kangaroo leather lace to be imported into the US by any entity, from any country, without the appropriate permits.

Over the years I have watched with dismay as individuals in the United States tried to import kangaroo leather lace without the necessary permits required to distribute to others within the US and internationally. Many customers who had pre-paid for their expected purchase from these individuals have shared that they had to wait months for their product or return of their money because of seizure; and some simply lost their investment. It’s important for customers to discuss these issues in advance with their reseller of kangaroo leather lace to protect their interests in the event of a seizure by the Fish and Wildlife Service during the import process.

Of course, here in Canada we have no such restrictions! Canadian customers are welcome to purchase from Longview Leather in Alberta who maintain an inventory for “on demand” service. For those customers who require volume purchases, Packer Direct has a strong reputation for providing professional and courteous service.

The intent of this post is simply to share information that may have serious implications for their craft. As such, and so that my page continues to remain controversy free, I am limiting comments on this post. What ever happened to Knotty Linda?
Customers keep asking!

So much has happened since that fateful day in February 2021 when I made the decision to close down my business as the Canadian National Reseller of kangaroo leather lace. I have moved to Calgary, Alberta, purchased a new home and loving my new life! Now I live close to family and old friends and enjoy big hugs and fun outings. There is now time to do the little things such as participate in interesting “Meet Up” groups, go for walks with new friends, and even read great books offered by the library, So far I have four exciting road trips planned for the summer and fall, and right now I’m exploring Edmonton for the next couple of weeks - I am so very content!
We have been able to sell off 95% of my large inventory to customers at discounted pricing with a huge thank you for the support received over the years. There are still some great colours remaining in all four widths at 50% off so please email me at [email protected] if I can be of assistance.

Pricing Slashed Again on 2 mm (1/16”) Wide Kangaroo Leather Lace!

Knotty Linda has slashed pricing by 50% on all lengths of 2 mm (1/16”) kangaroo leather lace to celebrate her retirement as the Canadian National Reseller of Kangaroo Leather Lace! From 50 and 100 meter spools to hanks of 5, 10 and 25 meters. They are all 50% off retail pricing. That means that a 2 mm X 10 meter hank regularly priced at $23.00 is only $11.50 while a 2 mm X 100 meter spool regularly priced at $131.00 would only cost $65.50! Wow! This is the lowest pricing that Knotty Linda will be able to offer retail customers.

This 1/16” width is perfect for fine braiding and to provide hints of colours in your lacing and fancy knot leathercraft projects! It is unlikely that after Knotty Linda retires this narrow width of kangaroo leather lace will be readily available in North America.

All pricing is in Canadian dollars, and flat rate tracked shipping of $15.00 is available within North America for all of your hanks. Should you wish to purchase spools with your order, it is just $2.50 Canadian for each additional item.

Hello Everyone!

First of all, please let me say a huge "thank you" to all of the customers who have purchased kangaroo leather lace during my retirement promotion! I'm simply grateful! I appreciate the support from customers who have become friends, and the opportunity to give discounts to those who have been long time customers.

As many folks know, I maintained a huge inventory of kangaroo leather lace so that I could provide "on demand" service. This meant that customers could obtain their product within days, rather than waiting for weeks or even months to obtain their requirements elsewhere. The difficult part of this service was the huge initial investment required, as well as ongoing investments in custom colours over the years. The good part is that I have lots of leather lace left for sale and can continue to supply my customers over the next weeks and even months!

What I wasn't expecting was the huge response to the retirement promotion! As a result, we were slower than usual to ship out product, and have had to ask for the patience of customers while we struggled with providing services to a high number of people in a short period of time. Thank you, big grin, to those who displayed such graciousness and understanding!

We are starting to run out of some 3 mm wide lace such as white, chocolate, and dark brown. We have lots of other earth tone, fashion and metallic colours in stock! For those who are interested in purchasing, please email [email protected] to request your colour chart, price list and retirement discount information sheet. If you are a "Knotty Linda" customer, please send me your wish list (colour, width and lengths), and after I confirm receipt I will keep your email in priority order and respond as soon as I can.

Today is, Wednesday, 03 Mar 2021, I have temporarily stopped sending out invoices to give us an opportunity to ship out the remainder of customer orders and to once again, check our stock levels. I expect to start sending out invoices on Friday, so it is important that interested individuals continue to send emails with requests so that they retain their place in priority and avoid disappointment.

Commencing Friday, 05 March 2021, we will only be able to offer 5, 10 and 25 meter hanks if there is an open spool available. The process of creating hanks has caused serious inventory monitoring difficulties, and it is important that we not oversell any product in error. I think that Knotty Linda was the first reseller to offer customers the convenience of shorter hank lengths of kangaroo leather lace for sale, and this was a seriously difficult decision to have to make.

I think that this is it for now my friends! For sure I appreciate the opportunity to update all my customers as to the status of my retirement promotion. Soft yet, so very strong, veg tanned kangaroo leather remnants are desired by leathercrafters for their light weight, abrasive resistance and superior durability. Important Announcement from Linda Brown (aka Knotty Linda, Leathercrafter)

Thank you all for your patience and support while I took the time to explore options and make decisions regarding my Kangaroo Leather Lace reselling future!

After careful consideration I believe that the time has come for me to return to my first loves; Fine braiding of Kangaroo Leather and international travel! I will not be leaving the Kangaroo Leather industry altogether; in fact a few of my customers have asked me to help with their social media activities. And I have a new sewing machine and heaps of Kangaroo Leather Remnants to play with! And, yes, I have other activities up my sleeve! I am content!

Tomorrow I will post information about how I plan to promote and sell the remainder of my inventory. On a temporary basis my ETSY and www.knottylinda.com stores have been closed to ensure that I don’t oversell inventory. Existing customers are now welcome to contact [email protected] regarding volume purchasing at discounted pricing.

At this time I would like to formally thank my assistant Brenda for her hard work and support. What a special partnership we created and it is because of Brenda that I was able to operate my Knotty Linda business and still participate in extensive international travel. Thank you Brenda!

I simply have the worst timing! Over the past year I’ve been slowly purchasing 4 mm X 50 meter spools of kangaroo leather lace in almost every colour. A little wider than 3 mm (⅛”) and a little narrower than 5 mm (3/16”), I think that it is perfect width for buckstitching medium sized items and lacing larger items!

And then, once I was ready to announce the availability of this width in every colour - the tannery announced that 4 mm widths would no longer be cut. Shake my head and move on! A 4 mm X 50 meter spool is normally priced at $110.00, and I’m letting them go for $80.00. In Canadian Pricing! We have lots of colour choice although some colours only have one or two spools. To assist with the control of inventory please email [email protected] with your requirements or to ask for your price list and colour chart.

Flat-rate tracked shipping of $15.00 applies no matter how heavy or large your parcel, and this means that it would be a good time to ensure that you have the basic colours of kangaroo leather lace in your workshop. It is unlikely that this width will ever be available again so pleasure share this information with your friends that you believe will be interested!

These tri fold change purses are easily created with kangaroo leather remnants and are a perfect money making product line for a vendor’s showcase!
My friend Tom created these by tracing the original design and then cutting the leather with an exacto knife and scalpel. He could have used scissors and still create a great cut with clean edges!
