Every piece tells a story- and this one is a powerful message of friendship, resilience, healing, and hope. Thank you Sachia for your beautiful words, and allowing me to make this piece for your dear friend ❤️
When I saw Emily’s beautiful jewelry made from broken teacups and coffee cups, I immediately knew I wanted a piece for someone very special.
Five and a half years ago, I lost my partner to su***de. On the night he died, a police officer asked me who I wanted to call, and without hesitation, I called one of my closest friends. She arrived almost immediately and stayed with me through the darkest hours of my life.
The next morning, before she had to leave for work, she asked me to make her a pot of coffee. I remember thinking it was such a simple request, so I got up and made it. Afterward, she smiled at me and said, “I know you’re going to be okay.”
I looked at her and asked, “Is that even possible?”
She replied, “You made me a pot of coffee on the worst day of your life.”
I remember saying, “It’s just a pot of coffee.”
But it wasn’t.
That pot of coffee became the first step in my healing journey. Every time I got up and did something hard, every time I faced another day, every time I overcame something I never thought I could, I thought about those words.
That’s why this piece means so much to me. Like the broken cup it came from, life can shatter in an instant. But broken doesn’t mean worthless. With care, love, and time, the pieces can be put back together into something beautiful and meaningful.
Although the cup is broken, it has been transformed into something that will continue to tell a story of friendship, resilience, hope, and healing—just like that first pot of coffee.
