DETAIL ALBUM
All lyrics and music come from the brain of Dale Collins, an illustrious unknown Canadian but with a long track record in the wooded country. During a visit by Bernie Shaw to Canada, singer of Uriah Heep, both met and quickly became friends. However, it took years before Dale was able to convince the singer of Uriah Heep to start a project together. After six years, a ceedee has finally arrived here with eight rock songs. Only eight, because it could safely be more and yet one less. First of all, it is noticeable that Bernie Shaw is not a free singer of Uriah Heep. With an intense voice he plays some ballads ('Alone', 'Sad Song') where 'famous' bands get sweaty with jealousy. Title song 'Too Much Information' has some Deep Purple content, to which the Hammond organ is no stranger, supplemented with a finger-fast guitar solo. 'Hey Jimi' impresses with the piano playing in a classical accompaniment. The guitar playing of Dale Collins, both acoustic and the electric solo, make the song a wonderful prog song.
The album ends with the cover of 'Rock On', a 1973 Espresso masterpiece by David Essex. Innumerable versions, including those from Def Leppard, and this one too, deviate miles from the original. The song became known for its dragging beat and the double bass. Unique and innovative for that time, so stay away.
Bernie Shaw and especially Dale Collins created a beautiful album with Too Much Information on which only 'Rock On' should disappear. Although we put the deed to the word. Available on CD, vinyl, download from Cherry Red Records and on streaming platforms. Let's rock!
