The pianos are one by one finding new homes, and it was really special to be apart of this next piano purchase. I actually met this family about one year ago when Kate was the winner of a St. Albert Piano Teachers Associations Scholarship and received an award for Community Initiative. I was able to met Kate and present her with her award at Don's Piano Place in November 2016.
Flash forward to December 2017 and I got to meet Kate's parents.
They came in one afternoon and we had a great time together. When they left, I turned to Annette and said "I think we might see them again today", and we sure did.
Although the budget and space did allow for a grand piano, their daughter would be off to college soon and an upright is a little easier to cart around when you are just starting off on your own. Both parents zoned in on the EU 131 by Pearl River, the crown jewel of the Pearl River uprights, and I sat down to play my usual demo songs. Ready to make the purchase, mom looked at me and asked if we could meet on Sunday so they could surprise Kate with the piano and have her seal of approval before finaliazing.
So we did just that.
Sunday afternoon came and as they walked into the store, dad said 'Hey, why don't you try this one?'
Kate sat down for a moment and played a few bars of a piece she was working on, she turned over her shoulder and gushed about how nice the piano was. Mom piped in for a moment, 'Would you like this to be your piano?' Kate's eyes widened as she looked back between mom and dad, 'Because we would like this to be your piano, if you want it?'
Kate looked at her parents, tears in her eyes and thanked them profusely. 'This is so nice! You are so nice!' she kep saying to her parents. She is a very deserving young lady to receive this piano.
