A warm, golden hush fills this landscape. The scene is painted in late-autumn tones: saffron and honey for the sky, deep russet and burnt umber for the foliage, and soft sienna for the earth. The light seems to come from a low sun just off-canvas, bathing the whole composition in a mellow glow that softens edges and turns the distant trees into layered silhouettes of amber and brick.

A single tall tree stands left of center, its branches full but beginning to thin, a vertical anchor against gently rolling hills. In the foreground a simple wire fence runs diagonally into the picture, its posts casting long, delicate shadows across a dusty track. That fence and the road work together as leading lines, pulling the eye inward toward the hazy midground where trees and shrubs blur into a warm, misted horizon.

The brushwork feels deliberate yet loose — washes and glazes build depth while broader strokes suggest thickets of undergrowth. On the right, a tumble of leaves and bushes is rendered with quick, textured marks that catch the light differently than the smoother plains behind them. The overall effect is both intimate and expansive: you can imagine the crunch of dried leaves underfoot and at the same time sense the wide, tranquil stretch of countryside.

A single ceramic vase. The vase has a rounded, tapered form that narrows gently toward the base and opens into a small circular mouth at the top. Its surface is earthy and weathered, with a warm brown upper section that gradually gives way to a lighter, cream-colored lower portion.

The finish looks deliberately textured and hand-crafted, marked by fine scratches, scuffs, and irregular etched patterns that give it an artisanal, slightly aged character. The lower half features denser, more clustered linear marks, almost like woven or crosshatched lines, while the upper section is smoother but still carries subtle surface wear. These contrasting textures make the object feel tactile and organic.

This week's Feature Art is "Little Honey" by Marlene Kallstrom-Barritt. This Piece is featured in our Current exhibit "Pigment of your Imagination" The Exhibit will be on display till May 26th! Stop by the Gallery to see this piece and many more!
A soft, intimate portrait of a long-haired cat fills the square canvas. The artist works in a restrained, almost monochrome palette — silvery grays, deep charcoals and a few warm neutral tones — which gives the piece a quiet, timeless feeling. The cat’s face is the focal point: large, reflective eyes look slightly upward with a mixture of curiosity and gentle alertness. Tiny highlights in the pupils catch the light and give the gaze a living, watchful quality.

Brushwork varies across the painting. Around the cheeks and chest, the strokes are feathery and loose, suggesting the plush, layered texture of the fur. Whiskers are rendered as confident, bright arcs that cut crisply through the softer grays, adding striking linear contrast. The nose and mouth are treated with softer blending that anchors the expression and lends the animal tenderness.

Compositionally, the cat is presented in a three-quarter view with the head turned just enough to invite engagement. Subtle tonal shifts and the visible weave of the canvas or paper give the work an intimate, handmade quality.

Overall the piece feels contemplative and affectionate: a close, almost quiet study that captures both the physical softness of the animal and the watchful intelligence in its face.
