🪨🔵 SOMETIMES YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’VE FOUND UNTIL YOU CLEAN IT!

When we picked this piece up, it was the mica that caught our attention. It looked interesting enough to bring home, but we had no idea what was hiding underneath.

After some cleaning, we started uncovering these beautiful blue kyanite blades running through the quartz and mica. 🔵✨ Definitely one of those finds that reminds us why we bring home the rocks that simply catch our eye!

Found by us right here in British Columbia and cleaned up at Kootenay Stoneworks. 🇨🇦⛰️

🪨💜 YOU NEVER REALLY KNOW WHAT’S INSIDE UNTIL YOU MAKE THE CUT! 💜🪨

This is exactly why we love cutting BC stone.

From the outside, you’d never expect to find this beautiful little agate formation hiding inside. Once the saw opened it up, we were greeted with soft lavender-purple colouring, delicate banding, touches of green and white, all surrounded by translucent chalcedony. 🤯✨

And the best part? This is only freshly cut — it hasn’t even been polished yet. Just wait until we work through the polishing stages and bring out the depth and colour in this one. 🔥

Every stone we work with is found by us right here in British Columbia, then cut, polished and transformed at Kootenay Stoneworks. 🇨🇦⛰️

🪨 HUGE MONTE LAKE & TRANQUILLE CREEK HAUL — AND WHY WE KEEP THE “COMMON” STUFF! 🤩

Our recent rockhounding adventures at Monte Lake and Tranquille Creek have produced an absolutely massive variety of finds! In this video, I’m showing you just some of what we’ve brought home from our adventures. ⛰️🪨

But Kootenay Stoneworks isn’t only about finding the rarest or most valuable stones.

We keep beautiful pieces of calcite and other more common minerals too, because sometimes those are the exact rocks that spark someone’s curiosity. 🔍✨ We love giving pieces away to kids of all ages and seeing that moment when they start asking, “What is this? How was it formed? What else can I find?”
