🌸 Peony Season Has Arrived! 🌸
We are on the verge of a peony explosion, and we couldn’t be more excited! These much-loved blooms are now being harvested locally, and we’ll have beautiful fresh peonies in-store over the next week or so.
One of the most common questions we hear is about ants on peonies. Believe it or not, ants play an important role in the development of these gorgeous flowers! As the buds mature, they produce a sweet, nectar-like substance that attracts ants. The ants feed on this sugary coating and help protect the buds from other pests, allowing the blooms to open beautifully.
If you ever find an ant or two on your peonies, simply give the stems a gentle shake outdoors or dip the blooms in lukewarm water and give them a swirl. That will take care of any lingering visitors.
And just for the record... there are no ants on the peonies in our shop! 😊
