Designed a beautiful tartan for the Biltmore Estate with the last few images on Robert Paterson the designer having lunch outside the Biltmore for inspiration!!

George Vanderbilt created Biltmore over a six-year period. Architect Richard Morris Hunt modeled the house on three chateaux built in 16th century France. It would feature four acres of floorspace, 250 rooms, 33 bedrooms, 43 bathrooms, and 65 fireplaces. The grounds of the 125,000-acre estate were designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the creator of New York’s Central Park. The house officially opened on Christmas Eve in 1895.

CASA LOMA TARTAN BLANKET

Beautiful custom tartan that we produced for the Iconic Casa Loma.

In 1911 Sir Henry Pellatt began building something extraordinary: a castle. Not in Europe, but right in the heart of Toronto. Casa Loma, meaning “House on the Hill” in Spanish, rose stone by stone located in midtown Toronto and is now owned by the City of Toronto and is regarded as a treasured heritage landmark. Today, Casa Loma is one of Toronto’s top tourist attractions and hospitality venues. This beautiful tartan was woven exclusively for Casa Loma using the soft colour tones of the exterior of this iconic landmark.

Available at Casa Loma's gift shop today.

Today is Titanic Remembrance Day, April 15, 1912

The Spirit of the Titanic tartan is a tribute to the over 1500 souls who perished during this tragic event and the bravery of the remaining passengers.

The thread count of our tartan, 04/15/12, marks the date of the loss of the Titanic.

The black base colour of the tartan represents the massive hull of the Titanic with the dark blue stripe representing the cold waters of the North Atlantic Ocean. The white and red stripes is an acknowledgement to the White Star Line and the Canadian Maple Leaf for the role in the recovery and care of the lost souls with Halifax, Nova Scotia being the final resting place of 150 passengers in three cemeteries. The gold thread count of 8 is dedicated to the brave band members that continued to play in an effort to calm and comfort the passengers as the ship was sinking.

April 6th is Tartan Day in Canada! It’s an annual observance celebrating the significant contributions of over four million Canadians with Scottish heritage.

Officially recognized in 2010, it honours the April 6, 1320, signing of the Declaration of Arbroath, marking Scottish heritage with parades, pipe bands, and of course, wearing tartans!

Wear your tartan with pride Canada!
