Morris County, New Jersey, has established a state-of-the-art 9-1-1 backup center within a local educational facility, combining emergency response capabilities with hands-on educational opportunities for students.

The backup center is designed with redundancy in mind. Unlike the previous backup site, which was merely an extension of the primary center, this new location can operate independently.

As the backup center becomes fully operational, Morris County is another center proving that with strategic planning and innovative partnerships, public safety can be both stronger and smarter.

It’s National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week! 🎧💛

Did you know this dedicated week was started back in 1981 by Patricia Anderson of the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office? Since then, the second week of April has been officially set aside so everyone can recognize the hard work and immense dedication of 911 dispatchers.

We love seeing these behind-the-scenes glimpses of dispatchers hard at work at our control consoles. You are the calm voice in the dark and the very first "first responder."

Let's make one to remember! Whether you are a dispatcher, a supervisor, or a local official—take time this week to celebrate. Host a squad party, hand out awards, or simply say "Thank You."

To every telecommunicator: Thank you for your sacrifices. Your commitment is recognized and appreciated by our team, and the communities you keep safe.
