Is a plant in your garden just not working out?
It is ok to make a change now, while it's on your mind (or bugging you with lackluster performance). Often we rationalize that an underwhelming perennial plant will do better next year and often it doesn't, year after year after year.
Or, you convince yourself you'll make a change next Spring but, when the new growth emerges, it's a shame to not give it a chance again, right? Maybe this year it will do better...
If, after a few years, a perennial plant is just not "giving you joy", make a change! Once dug out you can try it in a different location (more sun, less sun?), give it to a friend to try or simply send it to compost. No guilt, it is ok to do this!
You can plant perennials now, in August, as long as you are able to water thoroughly and regularly to help establish a good root base. Plant with a nutrient rich soil (like Triple Mix) and/or a soil additive (like Sea Compost), to ensure best success.
