We had a great weekend in the workshop with this wonderful group. 🛶

Brothers Aiden and Sebastian worked side by side, sharing plenty of laughter, good-natured ribbing, and teamwork — the kind only brothers can bring.

Nat and Alic carved their own wedding guest book paddles, creating something meaningful to mark the beginning of their life together. These paddles will not only hold memories from the workshop but also the signatures and well wishes of family and friends on their wedding day.

Thank you all for spending the weekend with us. It was a pleasure to be a part of your paddle-making journey. 🌲

From workshop to wilderness. 🛶

Jim and his son Henri carved their own paddles in the Spirit Tree workshop, with Henri designing the artwork that was burned into both pieces. It was wonderful to see their ideas come to life in wood.

A few days ago, they sent us these photos from a Scouts canoe trip along with a note:

"Thanks again for the amazing paddles! We launched from the Frost Center on St. Nora Lake for one night and portaged to Sherbourne Lake for last night and then back today."

For us, this is the best part of paddle making — seeing a paddle leave the workshop and become part of new adventures, new memories, and time spent together outdoors.

Thanks for sharing your journey, Jim and Henri. We hope these paddles accompany you on many more trips to come. 🌲

There’s nothing quite like turning a rough piece of wood into something that will travel lakes, rivers, and campsites for years to come. Our paddle workshops are hands-on, a little dusty, and a whole lot of fun.

A couple of beautiful paddles and an avid paddling duo. 🛶

Jaret and Josh spent time in the workshop carving these two custom paddles, and the finished pieces turned out wonderfully. It’s always special seeing paddles take shape in the hands of people who truly love being on the water.

Just a couple of weeks ago, Josh joined Adam Merrifield from Grand Experiences Inc. helping clear sweepers along the Nith River – a good reminder that paddling is not only about adventure, but also caring for the waterways that connect us.

Hunter and Lucas brought gorgeous walnut from their home to the shop, and we were honoured to turn it into a pair of handcrafted paddles.

Workshop Hours Update

The Spirit Tree workshop will be closed May 7 to 10 due to an unexpected family commitment.

We’ll be back open Thursday, May 14 and Friday, May 15, and then closed again Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17.

It’s a bit of an unusual schedule — thanks for your patience.

Spirit Tree Paddle Company is heading to The Lodge at Ten Mile Lake from August 22 to 26 for something pretty special. You’ll carve your own canoe paddle as part of a Spirit Tree workshop, learn to fly fish with Tyler from The Lodge at Ten Mile Lake, and spend a few days in a beautiful remote camp.
