Fall Quilting Classes 2025
1:00 to 4:00 or 6:00 to 9:00
Old Oxdrift School – 8 weeks
Quilting is a timeless craft that brings together creativity, tradition, and skill. Whether you are just starting your quilting journey or seeking to master advanced techniques, I am offering a variety of classes available to suit every interest and level.
Beginner Quilting Class – Monday, September 8, 2025 ($150.00)
• Introduction to Quilting
• A perfect starting point for those new to quilting. This class covers the basics: understanding quilting tools, fabric selection, rotary cutting, simple piecing, basic sewing machine skills, sandwiching the three layers, machine quilting and binding. Students will typically complete a small, simple lap quilt project.
Doiley Quilt Class – Tuesday, September 9, 2025 ($200.00)
• Art Quilting
• Push the boundaries of traditional quilting by experimenting with mixed media, embellishments, and creative design. Students will create a one-of-a-kind art quilt.
• Using doilies, vintage fabrics, embroidered masterpieces from grandma’s era, lace and vintage hankies to piece together to achieve intricate designs and quilt patterns. Learn how to use leftover fabric scraps to create vibrant and sustainable quilts. This class will encourage experimentation and personal expression.
• Quilters will design their own quilts, using the block method to piece their quilts.
Applique Class – Wednesday, September 10, 2025 ($200.00)
• Appliqué Basics on several small wall-hanging projects
• Discover the art of appliqué, where fabric shapes are sewn onto a background. This class explores both hand and machine appliqué methods, preparation techniques, and finishing.
Work on your Own Class – Tuesday and Wednesday, September 9 or 10, 2025 ($110.00)
Supply List
All classes will be provided with an experienced instructor who will use a combination of demonstration, hands-on practice, and guidance to help you learn quilting techniques in a fun and supportive atmosphere.
Beginner Class -need a sewing machine in good working order, a quarter inch quilting foot and a walking foot. You will need to purchase fabric for your quilt after the first class.
Applique Class- need a sewing machine that has the zig-zag function.
Doiley Quilt Class- will need a variety of doilies, vintage fabric scraps, laces and backing fabric. some supplies will be provided as block fillers, stabilizers and batting.
Work on Your Own Class – bring whatever you want to work on
