Anita and her six new besties had too much fun in their Beginner Stained Glass Session in our Educational Environment. Just look at how proud and excited they all were having completed their first ever stained glass panel! You should come join us and learn how to do stained glass as well.

Heather fired up one of our new Evenheat V8 Vitrograph kilns to pull actual....Vitrograph out of for the first time. We had uses these kilns when Dale Keating was here to pull Murrini and Twisted Cane, but this was our first Vitrograph pull and it was great! The RampMaster3 computer controller held the the temperature at precisely 1675F, giving us a nice smooth consistent flow of glass out the bottom. She was pulling a mixed green opal glass filled pot and you can see how nice it looks. Time to fire up another pot! Black is next. What other colours should we do?

Breaking News: We are running low on newspapers again. If you just happen to still enjoy reading your local newspaper, we would be very happy and pleased if you could consider bringing in your previously read newspapers so we may continue to wrap all the good stained glass we have here up for everyone to take home safely.

This crystal wine glass was part of a larger set and sadly had gotten a chip along the top rim. We were asked if we could do anything to get rid of the chip and save the set of drink ware? Yes. Yes we can and did! Using our Covington Engineering 24" lap wheel and several pads covered in various sizes of diamonds, and a felt pad with cerium oxide, the chip was ground away and the glass was then ground and polished back to a smooth glossy finish.
Mission Accomplished!

IYKYK about the secret hidden stash of Fun Sized Glass sheets tucked away on the floor under the Glob Bowl table. It is constantly refilled with whatever glass misadventures or breaks or flaws we can't put out, that are too small for our In Store Special crate by the front door. This morning a very special batch of brightly coloured Kokomo glass that have extra fun textures was placed in this bin. They Will Not Last Long so skedaddle on over asap. See you soon!

The American Glass Guild had invited Korina Oswald to present a glass community project, formally called "Shedding Light", but informally known as Earl, due to the snake shape it took on in a large window at the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum in Mesa, Arizona. Over five hundred glass artists contributed small trapezoids of glass that were then grouped into small panels of five. Earl was on display for a year, then taken down and each panel was auctioned off to raise funds for the AGG's James C. Whitney Memorial Scholarship. We were lucky to win Panel #76, which we will display proudly somewhere in the studio up here. The small panel that Ryan made up and contributed was in a panel that our friends down at Blue Moon Glassworks won, so a little part of Canada is happily on display in Austin, Texas!

Kelsie had another group of fun people become stained glass artists recently! Look how happy they are, having used their hands and minds to create a beautiful stained glass panel to hang in a window and bring colour into their homes.

Heather got the glorious task of drilling 3/8" holes into several tack fused clock faces. Drilling holes in glass is probably our least favourite task. It is slow, has to be done immersed in water in a shallow container, slowly, carefully. There is potential for scratching or cracking the glass in the process. If the glass is thicker, that makes it stronger, so we used Oceanside coloured Double Thick glass as a base, but then it takes even longer to drill the holes. Oh well, the things we do for you!;)

Some lucky person, (Kelsie) gets to fill a kiln shelf with hundreds of very small pieces of Oceanside to full fuse them into tiny Dots. Why would she subject herself to such a tedious task? That is an excellent question, one to which there is an answer. But to learn that answer you will need to be in our Educational Environment on the day she unveils all of these fun sized pieces of glass.....
