Sometimes we need to pull up in front of a store while someone runs in, I get that. But if you are stopping your car and blocking the only accessible exit that doesn’t require hopping a curb keep your head up and be willing to move (just a little) so people can get by.

I’m not sure who’s idea this was but my money’s on the orange cat.

No one is camping out at the good table and no one is on drink seven getting loud because the clock runs for everybody.

You get your forty-five minutes, the pirate vibes, a couple fancy drinks, some odd snacks and then you go.

The atmosphere is worth a visit but one visit is probably enough.

My son calls them sun sneezes. But the technical term is ACHOO (Autosomal-dominant Compelling Helio-Ophthalmic Outburst Syndrome) yes I’m serious!

Anyone else have a Photic Sneeze Reflex and sneeze as soon as the sun or a bright light hits your eyes?

Apparently this is a lot more common for people with lighter eye colours and is a genetic condition that affects about 20% of people.

Gets me every time!

And that’s how my brain relaxes. I feel like I’m probably the only person who does this but if you do it too know that you’re not alone!

My go to shows are Bob’s Burgers and The Simpsons in case you’re looking for some good walking shows!

A made a rookie mistake and learned that Disney’s magic extends beyond the duration of your vacation!

Have you ever forgotten stuff at a Disney hotel? What was your experience?

The main tower of the Contemporary is the iconic one. The monorail glides right through it and when you think of Disney resorts that’s probably what you picture first.

We stayed in the garden suites. The smaller building off to the side, with one rickety elevator and long quiet hallways that feel like they have not changed since about 1971.

And here’s what made it worse: The rooms themselves are stunning.

Fully updated, Incredibles theming, beautiful and modern.

So you walk down a hallway that feels like the establishing shot of a movie where creepy twins appear out of nowhere and nobody makes it to checkout, and then open a door into something polished and perfect.

That disconnect is the exact thing horror movies use. The Shining wasn’t scary because the hotel was run down. It was scary because it was grand and evil all at the same time.

Two things can be true. It was one of the creepiest hotel walks I’ve taken. It was also one of the rooms I’d book again in a heartbeat.

And I only took the rickety elevator when I absolutely had to.

Interrupting your day so you too can enjoy this Drama King.

Well, every Tuesday from May to September if you’ve got a season pass.

Disney and Universal want you to stay. They build worlds you sink into, details you come back to catch, theming that rewards the slow look. A week barely covers it because that’s the design.

Canada’s Wonderland has never run that play. I’ve been going since I was a kid, and the deal has always been the same. You pick a ride, you get the thrill, you move. You’re in, you’re out. The fun is loud and short and then it’s over, and that’s not a flaw in the model. That is the model.

The IP has always been there, but it sits on top, not underneath. Hanna-Barbera, then Nickelodeon, then Peanuts. The owners changed too. Kings Entertainment, Paramount, Cedar Fair, and now Six Flags.

Four owners, three sets of characters, and through every handoff the visitor barely felt a rumble, let alone a shift. That’s the benefit of not anchoring your identity to a fandom.

The branding can change hands again and again because the rides were never about the story, they were about the thrill.

That’s what I admire. They know exactly what they are.

They didn’t try to build a world and come up short. They looked at the job, decided the thrill was the whole point, and committed all the way down. That’s harder than it sounds. Most things can’t resist adding a story.

A season pass at Wonderland costs less than a single day at Disney. That tells you everything about who the park is for. Not the family flying in once but for the kid who lives twenty minutes away and shows up nine times before Labour Day.

And here’s the thing nobody wants to admit at the same time.

Universal is fast because they have loyalty to IP. Harry Potter, Nintendo, How to Train Your Dragon. The rules already exist and someone else wrote them.

Universal’s job is to honor the canon and render it beautifully, and they do. When they get it right the fans are happy. There’s a rulebook to follow and they built their brand on being really good at following it.

Disney has no rulebook, instead they have obsession. They’re building from their own IP, which means there’s no external canon to point at, just a fanbase that treats every detail as canon and will come for you if you get it wrong.

So they decide everything slowly, carefully, like six years carefully.

Not because they’re precious, but because when it’s your own world and your own people watching, there’s no one else to blame for the wrong call.

So both things are true.

Universal opened five worlds while Disney was still pouring a foundation, and that pace is genuinely incredible.

And the obsession that makes Disney slow is the same obsession that makes you feel like the place you are visiting is exactly what it should be down to the last detail.

I used to think one of those had to be the right answer.

Turns out I just really like theme parks.
