What is Ube? 💜
Here’s a photo of an actual ube that our grandparents gave us when we went back to the Philippines. A vibrant purple yam that’s widely loved in Filipino desserts and drinks. It has a naturally sweet, earthy, and slightly nutty flavor with hints of vanilla. Traditionally, ube is turned into jam and used as a spread or added to halo-halo. Now, it’s becoming a beloved flavor around the world used in cakes, lattes, cookies, ice cream, and pastries.
For many Filipinos, ube is more than just an ingredient. It’s a nostalgic taste of home and childhood memories whenever someone goes to Baguio City, they always bring pasalubong (Travel gift) of Ube 💜
