Spent an amazing day at Dakota Plains fixing bikes.

Through the Kanta program, 10% of every bike we sell supports bringing these services to Indigenous communities. I come to them, keep it affordable, and hope to spark a love for biking that lasts.

What an incredible race at Squirrel Hills Trail Park in Minnedosa! The organizers and trail builders really know how to put on a show.

It was amazing to see Country Cycle and our Kids of Mud represented so well. Some strong racers coming up through the ranks!

Can you kick it? Yes you can.

During our time in Ecuador we’ll be kick’n it on the singletrack and beautiful jungle roads — but there will also be plenty of time to simply kick up your feet.

We’ll be staying at Siempreviva Casa in Canoa — a place that perfectly captures the slower rhythm of coastal Ecuador.

This trip is about more than just riding bikes. It’s about stepping away from the North American rat race for a little while and reconnecting with a simpler pace of life.

Good food. Ocean air. Cold drinks. Great company. Bikes.

A place that reminds you that sometimes less really is more.

Send me a message, give me a call at the shop or even come by the shop to learn more. Link to trip info is in my stories 👆🏻

And if you want to extend your stay, you can also experience the beauty and vibrancy of the city of Quito.

Lake Minnewasta Trails

Last night was our first Kids of Mud spring session out on the trails.

I’m super proud of this group of boys. I thought for sure a few of my junior riders would “crack” when faced with the demands of trail riding… but they didn’t.

Trails are going to be prime in time for the Back 40 MTB race on June 7th.

At Country Cycle we’ve always believed the bicycle can be more than transportation, fitness, or sport.

It can be mentorship.
It can be confidence.
It can be belonging.
And in a world increasingly lived through screens, it can be a way to reconnect kids to the real world around them.

That belief is what led us to create Kanta.

Kanta was built around a simple mission: create quality bikes that are accessible, durable, and meant to help people flourish through movement and adventure. The name comes from the Spanish word canta — “to sing.” To us, the bicycle helps people find their voice.

But Kanta is also tied to something bigger than bikes.

10% of every Kanta bike sale goes directly back into youth programming and community outreach. Those funds help us build relationships with Indigenous communities through the bicycle — not through one-time appearances, but through consistent presence and trust-building over time.

Sometimes that means regular bike rides with youth in communities like Dakota Plains. Sometimes it means flying into remote northern communities to put on bicycle repair and safety workshops. Sometimes it means organizing our annual Indigenous youth bike race and creating opportunities for kids to experience challenge, encouragement, and community through movement.

More than ever, kids need opportunities to move their bodies, explore the outdoors, solve problems with their hands, and feel connected to something real. The bicycle naturally pulls people into the world around them — onto trails, into conversations, through communities, and back into relationship with the land and with each other.

That’s the deeper story behind Kanta.
