Reminder local author Matthew Lay The Mudutu Effect will be in house to do a book reading and signing tonight between 7 to 9 pm.

Arrive promptly as seating is limited and once full, doors will be closed till the end of the event. Lots of new pieces will be available tonight as well! Sunlit Sorcery Salve, Mabon Kits, ghost earrings, mermaids candles, nereid brooches to name a few!

There will be snacks and beverages. There will also be an opportunity for some Emporium shopping afterwards!!

Open Wednesday to Saturday 12 to 5 pm. Today 12 to 5. Will be be closed from 5 to 6:30 for set up and doors will again at 6:30pm!

This week I felt like a little bit of a failure as it seems my to do list never stops and items roll over till the next day (or week) or I ran out of supplies to create.

I had to remind myself that we often measure success by volume, doing the least effort and making the most profit.

More is more, right? However, after some soul searching (and sleep) I reframed the narrative in mind that running out of stock and/or not having multiples of the same thing isn’t a failure!

It is, actually, proof and a sign that what you create is genuinely wanted and what you make with your own hands is genuinely appreciated. Waste is minimized in small batch and you have the ability to respond to any shifts as well as being responsive to your valued supporter's preferences.

​When you operate as a small batch maker and potter, it means you deliberately craft items in exclusive and limited, manageable quantities rather than churning out mass produced inventory. I don't have hundreds of identical items stored in a warehouse in Toronto or Vancouver. Products are almost exclusively made by my mom's and my hand right in the shop or by a valued vendor.

I am not a large wholesaler trying to feed the belly of the beast of big box store retail, and, honestly, I don't want to be. We are here to share the magick, be inspired and most of all to be joyful in our creations. Being small isn't a limitation or a fault, in fact, we've made it the entire point by steps and degrees and by our capacity to create.

We appreciate the patience you grant us when we don't always have everything in stock and we hope this brings clarity as to why!

On that note: I have been brewing a special infusion for the last month to create a salve for this time of year called Sunlit Sorcery (it is pictured here)! It celebrates and honors the end of summer and the beginning of fall. It is inspired by the gold of harvest and the last precious remnants of summer sunlight! Look for the salve this week!
