Mookadagan (moo-kuh-DAH-gun)

Meaning “crooked knife,” the Mookadagan is a traditional Cree carving tool used for woodworking, including the making of snowshoes and paddles.

A simple tool carrying generations of knowledge, skill and craftsmanship.

Wachiya was proud to be in Mistissini for the 2026 CYNC Annual General Assembly, connecting with delegates, community members, and visitors from across Eeyou Istchee. 💚

We were grateful to be invited as a vendor and to bring a selection of Cree-made and Indigenous products to the gathering. The AGA also marked an important moment for CNACA, with the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Wachiya booth, shared a conversation, and supported the artists and makers we represent. Another great stop for Wachiya on the Move!
