A SIMPLE SOLUTION:
Andre S, of Montreal, was looking for a way to make propellers for his airplane, but the props needed to look like they were turning. We made some simple acrylic disks for his wonderful model. Here is his note about the model:

"It's a 1/50 Douglas Factory Model from the late 1940's early 1950's. They had a model shop at Douglas where they would melt down their aluminum scraps to make promotional models for their airline clients. It's all cast polished aluminum shine. Just like the real ones, even made from the same metal.

I found it many years ago and restored it back its original glory. Eventually I found a decal maker to print me up a custom set in 1/50 scale in American Airlines livery and completed with a little painting."

Brian, from Ontario, sends us these nice pictures of one of our display cases "in action". Illness has gotten in the way, and Brian decided this is where the construction would stop. Still, the model looks outstanding and we wish Brian the best of health in the coming months.

THAT DOCKING TELEGRAPH RESTORATION COMPLETED, THANK YOU ALL!
Greetings to all! A few weeks ago, I was asked to repair a ship's telegraph that had been smashed in a crash. I am happy to report that, thanks to the help I received from several modellers from around the world, the telegraph was correctly identified as a very rare docking telegraph, was restored, and is now safely back in place on my customer's premises. Thank you all for your help with this one!
Next, I am looking for a particular model of a ship that commuted through the Lachine Rapids, in the 1800s, but that will be for another posting.

THAT DOCKING TELEGRAPH:
A few weeks ago, several modellers from around the world helped me identify a docking telegraph I am restoring and figured out all the correct working that was missing.
Here is an update. We used modern tools to create the new face, and then found it was simply too perfect, and so redid the entire face, painstakingly drawing each letter by hand, one by one.
Here are some pictures of the original, the modern take, and the manual solution.
Next, in a weird way, we now need to go back to the modern tools, and turn the manual drawing into digital so we can use a laser to cut the letters for the actual final product.
