Late mother’s day post and this one’s a special one because of how much this moment meant to me. Most people don’t know i’m completely self taught and never had music lessons or instruments provided to me growing up. In fact, the immigrant grind and hard working nature of non artistic parents didn’t allow for me to realize my own gifts until I left home and discovered who i really was in university. Yet i’ve never let that dim my light and love that i share with every person young or old when they come to my shop for anything music related. In fact, I have been shining my light brighter than ever before and cannot wait for our community to grow with all the amazing creatives we’re fostering daily.
Over the last 15 years of teaching and 8 years of owning this shop, I have had the blessing to teach and mentor so many people from every age group, social class, disability etc u can imagine, but i never have really got to share this feeling with my own creators. Let this be a reminder to you, that it’s never too late to start and share the love and passion that only music can bring.
Next up, i gotta get my dad on the guitar and vocals. Neither of my parents have ever played an instrument or pursued the arts in their life so i think it’s about time they give it a shot don’t you? ❤️🖤
