Wondering how we package leafcutter bees? 📦🐝 We took a quick break from packing orders to show you how we safely pack your bees!

What you see in this black tray are actually leafcutter bee cocoons. They're not live bees yet!

The cocoons are in the middle of their hatching process at the time of packaging. A typical hatch can take about 20-30 days, but it differs depending on temperature.

Sometimes, the bees will be hatched and buzzing right when they arrive at your doorstep! 🐝 But more likely, they'll take another week or so to fully hatch, during which they should be stored in a temperature-controlled area (in your house or garage should be just fine!)

Then just keep an eye on the orange cocoon box 👀 Once you start seeing a lot of bees buzzing inside, they're ready to release!

Because leafcutter bees don't have a Queen!

Leafcutter bees are a solitary bee species, which means every female bee is her own boss. Unlike honeybees, they don’t live together in a large hive or colony with workers and a Queen directing the operation.

Instead, each female leafcutter bee builds and cares for her nest, gathers pollen, and lays eggs—all on her own! 🏡🌸

You could say they’re self-employed 😉
