As many of you will have seen in our recent post with . We are launching a new model this Fall which is unlike anything we’ve ever released before - the Kun Seven!
Next month at the , we will be showing it to the public for the first time. If you are attending, be sure to come by our booth (9136) to see it in action.
The Kun Seven is so named because it is the seventh model in our catalogue of violin and viola shoulder rests. To celebrate the launch we’re counting down (or counting up!) the six unique rests that have brought us to this point.
1 - The Kun Original.
First patented in 1972, the Kun Original began it’s life as a hand-made prototype invented by Joseph Kun; who brought it with him to Ottawa from Czechia in 1968.
The practical, uncomplicated design of the shoulder rest, with its simple adjusting mechanisms has made it the favourite of amateur and professional players alike.
50 years on from the first iteration of the Original as we know it today, we are proud to be bringing a new

Have you ever tried double bass Passione strings?
Coming in two variations - in Orchestra tuning and Solo tuning, these strings are especially suited for arco and deliver a round, noble and very warm sound combined with a complex overtone spectrum which results in a deep sound and great projection.
The Orchestra set is as well available in gauge “strong”: Compared to the medium Orchestra set the sound is more brilliant and the string tension is higher. For those who are using a C-extension the E 2.10m is available in medium and strong gauge. Same as for the B5 for the 5-string bassists. For playing those higher solo notes a C High Solo is available which can be combined with the G-, D- and A-Orchestra strings or the entire Orchestra set.
Double bass Passione strings are a modern and very reliable steel core string suitable for the ambitious bassist, take it from Giuseppe Ettorre or Christopher Hanulik who are playing on Passione strings!
In accord with the Passione string set we recommend using the rosin “Bass medium”.
