Victoria Day has come and gone… which means, according to the old rules, it’s officially time to bring out the whites and bright summer colours.

And the Barn is READY.

We’ve got fresh spring-to-summer fashions arriving daily — cheerful colours, light layers, pretty prints, and outfits made for sunshine, patios, garden parties, beach walks, and ice cream stops. And yes… white pants season has apparently been approved by Canadian tradition 😉

Come wander the racks and see what treasures you can thrift!

Our May 3rd Fashion Show was an absolute joy from start to finish. One guest told us, “I’ve never laughed so much at a fashion show.” Honestly, mission accomplished.

There were smiles, surprises, brave runway walks, a few superstar poses, and the kind of warmth that only happens when a community comes together simply to have fun and support one another.

As we celebrate our 50th anniversary year, moments like this remind us what the Bargain Barn has always been about: people. Volunteers, families, shoppers, donors, friends, and the next generation already stealing the show.

Thank you to everyone who modeled, organized, donated, cheered, laughed, and made the afternoon unforgettable.

Fifty years in, and we’re still bringing people together — one fabulous outfit at a time.

Volunteer spotlight: Eveline Sigouin Forbes
Department:
Shoes & Footwear (do you have any idea what’s on the soles of shoes sometimes? She cleans em & preps them for the shelves 🤯)
Accessories-wallets, suitcases, purses, etc (She’s the person who asks, does this zipper work?)
Eveline does regular shifts at the store during the month and helps out on donation days when she can.
Other roles: weekly photographer for social media (we couldn’t do this without her) and her very serious poetry career where her humour shines through 😄

Eveline, styled these shoe stretchers and then inspiration hit:

This is what makes the Barn so special. It is not just the finds, but the people behind them. Our volunteers bring the heart, the humour, squeaky clean soles and occasionally… poetry. We ❤️you, Eveline. Thank you for all you do.

On April 7, our President Lesley Durrant, along with Vice-President Savannagh Marchell, Secretary Stephanie Van Dyk, and Board Member Marilyn Duggan, presented a $45,000 donation to the Pender Harbour Health Centre

This incredible contribution doesn’t happen on its own. It’s the result of every donation dropped off, every item purchased, and every hour given by our volunteers.

To our donors, shoppers, and volunteers-our entire Bargain Barn community-thank you. This is what 50+ years of community looks like. Your support makes a real and lasting difference in our local healthcare.

Thank You, Bargain Barn Community!

Our Purdys Chocolate Fundraiser was a sweet success — together we raised $2,226.75 for our Renew & Refresh Campaign to help replace the flooring at the Bargain Barn.

As we celebrate 50 years of the Barn, it’s wonderful to see our community continue to step up and support the work we do for the Pender Harbour Health Centre through our Auxiliary.

Thank you to everyone who ordered chocolates, shared the fundraiser, and helped spread the word. Your support will help keep the Barn going strong for the next 50 years.

It’s feeling almost like spring at the Barn…
The shelves are blooming and love it.

We’ve just put out a beautiful Mikasa Bone China set (yes, the good stuff), delicate florals, bright and cheery housewares, and the sweetest little floral décor accents — think tiny pops of happiness for shelves, tables, and windowsills. If you’re craving light, colour, and a fresh start… this is your sign.
You don’t need a full renovation. Sometimes a new-to-you teacup and a splash of flowers does the trick.
