The Hospice Thrift Store closed, but we’re coming back for an Encore! 👏

Just like every secondhand treasure deserves a second act, we’re turning the page to a new chapter. The Hospice Thrift Store is rebranding as Encore – Garments & Goods to Re-love in Support of Hospice Halifax.

Encore brings a new look, name, and storefront, while keeping the same promise you’ve always believed in: Making second-hand shopping purposeful. 💕

All proceeds continue to support free, compassionate end-of-life care and grief support at Hospice Halifax.

Our new location is not open for shopping or other donations just yet, but you can come by to donate your bag and get a sneak peak at the space 👀👜

This year, instead of financial donations, we’re asking for gently used high-end handbags and jewellery to support our annual Handbags for Hospice auction fundraiser 🛍️

With our thrift store preparing for its exciting move, our team has been bustling behind the scenes. Unfortunately, this work has left us with little time to source quality accessories for the auction.

You can help us restock and get this much-loved fundraiser auction ready! 👏

STARTING MONDAY NOVEMBER 24, you can donate handbags and jewellery at either of our two drop-off points:

🕚 Hours: Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. | Saturday, noon–4 p.m.

💛 Thank You, Sackville - One more day tomorrow! 💛

From all of us at Hospice Thrift Store, we want to express our deepest gratitude to the Lower Sackville community for nearly six incredible years of support.

You’ve been with us through so much — a pandemic, a recent break-in, countless volunteer hours (nearly 15,000!!), devoted staff, and the amazing evolution of our little store. Every donation, every kind word, and every visit meant the world to us.

While we’re saying goodbye to Sackville, this isn’t the end — it’s a new beginning. We’re so excited to continue our story in Halifax and can’t wait to welcome you to our brand-new store when we open soon!

Due to unforeseen events, our store will be closed today. We’re so sorry for the inconvenience, we know you’ve all been showing up to support our 75% off moving sale!

We’ll reopen Monday, October 20.
A quick reminder: our last day at the Lower Sackville location is Saturday, October 25.

We are moving to 2748 King St. in Halifax! We do not have a confirmed opening date to provide, but it will be late fall early winter. We'll make sure to continue providing updates so folks don't miss out visiting as soon as possible!
