🌱Day 29: Sustainable Gift Wrapping

🎁 As we all know from the Christmas mornings of our youth, gift giving creates a ton of waste. And not a great deal of it is recyclable! I’m sure all my sustainable gals out there have the old “bag of gift bags” stuffed in the basement to reuse when we can, but what if we could do away with the whole sparkle-laden custom AND still give beautiful gifts?

♻️There are so many options out there, but one of our faves is wrapping gifts in cute tea-towels or pieces of old fabric. Tie with a gorgeous ribbon and you’re arriving with an adorable, creative, and sustainable gift.

Other ideas:
- Fabric Produce Bags
- Sponge Cloths tied around *great for books, hand soap, or lotion!*
- Fill a cute tote bag
- Find a great basket and fill
- Simple twine with natural accents like pinecones + cedar, eucalyptus, or seasonal flowers

✅Get creative! What are your low-waste gift giving hacks? Or toss down some ideas you’d like to try.

🌱Day 28: Composting

🥬Food scraps, coffee grounds, egg shells, and even paper towels or egg cartons don’t belong in the landfill—they belong in the soil. Composting turns everyday kitchen waste into nutrient-rich goodness that helps plants thrive and reduces harmful methane emissions.

👩🏽‍🌾Whether you have a backyard bin, a countertop composter, or access to our CKL organics program, every small step makes a difference. Our household waste is WAY down since getting religious about composting. And you don’t have to be an epic gardener to use your compost; even hedges, bushes or your lawn can benefit from replenishing the soil. Maybe even share with a neighbour!

We have a counter top electric composter and a backyard bin. BUT, I have become a bit obsessed with this idea from to get our food scraps right into our garden beds this year. We’ll try it out and report back in the fall. ;) (I’m also super excited about the idea of “worm farming” for soil replenishment. Stay tuned for my adventures in this!).

✅Today’s challenge: Start a compost system that works for your space—or take one step closer to making the change. Get more serious about using your green bin. Dig a small hole in your backyard where food waste can be buried. Any movement is a good start! Because less waste isn’t about perfection—it’s about progress. 🌍 Already a compost guru? Drop your hacks below and share a pic of your compost set-up for an extra entry.

🌱 Day 25: Natural W**d Killer

🪏I bet everyone has some sort of yard work on deck this weekend! I don’t know about you, but I’m already looking at some extremely sturdy looking w**ds out there.

Beat the w**ds this year with easy, natural w**d killer (Vinegar!). Give a spray in the morning on a bright sunny day and they’ll be dead by dinner. ☠️

Any vinegar will work, but if you want to be completely murderous in your spraying try the following recipe, recommended by a very wise gardener with many seasons under his belt. 😉
- 20% W**d Killing Vinegar (available in bulk !)
- A drop of Dish Doap (to make it stick to the leaves)
- 1 tsp of Salt
Give a shake and get spraying! Safe for kids, safe for pets, and works like a charm.

✅For today’s entry, hit us with your green-gardening tips and tricks, or post some questions that other veteran gardeners can answer (we’ve got a lot of them in our Unwrapped community!). Entries for tips, questions, or answers!!! Don’t forget to tag and in any green-gardening weekend posts. :)
