A rainbow for Christmas?
I know it sounds strange
But let me tell you a story
About a virus strain

It started in China
And spread really fast
We had lockdowns at home
We all had to wear masks

It was a pandemic
On a global scale
We shopped online
Instead of retail

Essential workers were needed
The borders all closed
Things changed very quickly
Restrictions were imposed

The restaurants closed
And children stayed home
We lived in our jammies
Many felt all alone

Some sang from their balconies
To help raise our Spirits
Others cut their own hair
And discovered their limits

We learned to use zoom
Stayed six feet apart
No hugging our loved ones
Now that broke our hearts

We experienced a shortage
Of medical supplies
Toilet paper too
Yet I still don't know why

Life really did change
Due to Covid-19
Animals moved into cities
It was a sight to be seen

All in all, 2020
What a year it has been
Full of worries and struggles,
And not seeing friends

Take a moment this Christmas
Everyone around the globe,
Celebrate at a distance
Sharing love, faith, and hope.

The rainbow reminds us
There are good times to come
Share a smile and some laughter
Here’s to 2021!
