Just under one week until our first goat show!

Today we started clipping them and getting the them ready. We will be showing a few of this years doe kids, one buck, and 1 two year old first freshener. We have no idea if we’re doing everything perfectly, but we’re giving it our all and enjoying the process.

It’s funny how something can be both exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time. Right now we’re mostly just grateful for the opportunity to learn, try something new, and make memories along the way.

Ask us again after June 20th if we still think showing goats is a good idea. 😉

Weaning day is here!

It’s hard to believe these lambs are already 12 weeks old. It feels like just yesterday we were welcoming them into the world, and now they’re officially moving on to the next stage.

This group averaged 80lb weaning weights. Healthy lambs, happy ewes, and lots of excitement for what’s ahead.

We will most likely eat the wethers ourselves 🍽️

Our last baby is quite late for what our ideal kidding times are and being that she was a single she is all by herself. We let her outside with the other kids during the day and bring her inside because she so much smaller. I don’t want to risk her being squished by the older kids. This is the difference between a week old doe kid and a 2.5mon old doe kid 😆 She just itty bitty baby compared to the February kids.

We’re pretty excited about the potential behind this buck kid and what he could contribute to our herd moving forward.

He brings together a strong set of proven genetics. On the sire side, he traces back to Candyman lines, which have earned a solid reputation for transmitting productive, well attached udders and overall dairyness. These are the kind of genetics that add real depth to a herd, not just surface appeal.

His sire, ranked 7th on the Top Sires list in the U.S., adds another layer of confidence. That kind of recognition reflects consistency and performance across multiple herds, not just in one setting.

On the dam side, coming from an 89 appraised doe is just as important to us. She represents the kind of correctness, balance, and functionality that we value in our foundation deos, the kind that work hard and last.

Our goal with this buck is to blend those strengths: improve udder quality, maintain strong production, and add structural correctness and balance. If he develops the way we anticipate, he should be a useful tool in continuing to move our herd forward in a practical, productive direction.
