✨ HIDDEN GEM ✨

If you’re looking for authentic Thai food, check out Northern Thai at 95 Queen St S.

We kicked things off with a cold Singha, a delicious Thai beer, and their refreshing mango cranberry drink 🍹

For food, we ordered:
🥭 Mango Salad (Yum-Ma-Muang)
🍛 Cashew Chicken (Gai-Pad-Met-Mamuang) with a side of Thai Jasmine Rice (Khao-Suey)
🌶️ Drunken Noodle (Pad-Kee-Mao) with tofu

Every dish was packed with flavour, fresh ingredients, and the perfect amount of spice 🔥

Whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeout, Northern Thai is a must-visit in DTK. Bonus: they’re open for lunch Thurs-Sat! 🌟

🍕H-O-T-T-O-G-O 🍕

DTK has an amazing pizza scene, so we rounded up a few spots to satisfy your carby, cheesy cravings. We’ve got stone-fired classics, easy grab-and-go slices, and wildcards like the iconic pickle pizza (we’re officially obsessed 🥒).

Our DTK pizza crawl so far:

Market Pizza & Pasta (Kitchener Market 2nd floor)

We couldn’t fit every amazing DTK pizza spot in one post - let us know in the comments if we should do a Part 2! 🍕

When the DTK Art Walk launched in 2020, our goal was to rotate each piece every two years to showcase and celebrate local talent. However, ’s piece, ZHASHAGI (meaning Blue Heron), has remained a beloved piece for nearly six years - a testament to its size, significance, and the lasting impact it has had on our DTK community.

Despite significant repairs, the inevitable effects of time and weather have impacted ZHASHAGI. Tomorrow, this iconic piece will take flight. We want to take a moment to express our deep appreciation to Luke for sharing his incredible work with us since the very beginning. Projects like this simply would not be possible without the trust and support of artists like Luke.

While the artwork and its framework will be removed, our intention is to carefully study the site to ensure that the next piece installed can better withstand the elements and continue to inspire the community and future artists.

Behind every piece of art is a story, a craft, and a willingness to share with you – our DTK community. Find other works by Luke in DTK, including AOK ONIJAANIW (DOE) along Halls Lane and MAKWA on the Gaukel Block. Please help us thank Luke in the comments below.

A long standing staple in our East End, Golden Hearth is a go-to spot for locals craving house-made baked goods and breads. When you walk in, you are greeted with scents of freshly baked pastries, making it impossible to choose just one.

If you visit on a Saturday before or after your Kitchener Market stop, you’ll be in for a treat (no pun intended) with some of their special pastries that are only made once a week!

We grabbed some items to go and went to enjoy the sunshine at the Kitchener Market piazza. There is plenty of outdoor seating and tables if you wish to do the same. ☀️😎

Ring in spring with a seasonal drink at a DTK coffee shop! 🌸☕

As avid coffee drinkers, we’re always looking for something new to try. Whether you want something fruity, floral, or rich, there’s something for you. Here’s what we’ve tried lately:

🥕 — Peach Oolong Tea and an Iced Carrot Cake Latte. Also pictured: their Mini Egg and Dill Pickle scones. These changed our lives. Honestly.

🍌 — Banana Bread Latte and Date Cinnamon Latte.

🍊 — Pistachio Banana Matcha Latte and Blood Orange Citrus Espresso Tonic.

🍫 — Iced Chocolate Covered Strawberry Latte.

🍯 — Honey Saffron Latte and Raspberry Matcha Soda.

🧊 — Iced Hojicha Horchata, and the “Evelyn”, an Oatly Slush Latte.

🍓 .canteen — Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte and obviously a freshly baked donut. (Not seasonal, but definitely iconic!)

🍨 — Iced Honey Lavender Latte and an Affogato with their locally-made chocolate gelato.

🥭 — Iced Mango Matcha (with mango cold foam!) and Iced Dragon Fruit Lemonade.

Save this post for your next coffee run ☀️
