Yoni Mudra Art Gallery

Yoni Mudra Art Gallery YMAG hosts regular in-house and community-led art workshops, public lectures, and intimate conversations.

Yoni Mudra Art Gallery (YMAG) is a yoni-centered art and community hub promoting mental and physical wellness through yoga, dance, meditation, and somatic and spiritual healing. Its art gallery and gift shop are dedicated entirely to the yoni anatomy, which, in Sanskrit, means v***a and sacred womb space. Public lectures and conversations focus on yoni-centered topics including bodily autonomy, se

xual autonomy, mental, physical, and sexual health, and embodied self-expression and empowerment. Yoni Mudra Art Gallery is an inclusive space that invites conversations from all people who associate the yoni with their lived experience or who want to understand the yoni and its power better.

The more this conversation unfolded, the more I started to sense an earnest alignment between what it's like to operate a v***a art gallery in a mid-sized Canadian city and what it's like to perform drag in a mid-sized Canadian city.

Exploration, defiance, courage, and a lot of hard work behind the scenes while facing society's assumptions and projections.

If you are local to Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, 'This is My Vu!va' is a spectacle of vu!vaness that you don't want to miss!

This theater production includes dancing, singing, story-telling, and vu!lva cosplay to tell a story about a very misunderstood body part: the great portal and temple of the human body.

Performances in Collingwood in the Spring received wide acclaim. This is an excellent date night idea.

We live in a special and progressive part of the world, enjoy this unique experience and the freedom to think and experience the world differently, told through the eyes of women and vu!va owners.

YMAG’s Cat Tarot Art Submission

XVII THE MOON | Kosame Xia

The Moon in tarot often represents intuition and subconscious. Many of these themes intertwine heavily with femininity and so I wanted to incorporate our galleries themes within the card itself.

The Smith-Waite version depicts a wild and a tamed wolf before a small pool of water with a lobster emerging from the depths. The wolves stand within a landscape featuring two towers and a single path illuminated by the Moon.

I wanted to encapsulate the core visuals of the card while still telling a unique story.

I replaced the traditional moon and its leaves with a blood orange and seeds to represent the womb space and its influence on our realm. The womb can often be attributed to a divine unconsciousness as we are held in our mother’s sacred waters, unaware of what is to come.

The seeds falling into the landscape represent this “sowing” of the unconscious and how things we aren’t fully aware of can still impact the present reality.

Instead of wolves, I chose cats to keep with the Cat Tarot theme, but also notable that felines are typically associated with more feminine energy. Cats are notable for their strict boundaries and subtle body language and for years have been the animal one would associate with “a lonely woman”. Many forget however that the feline is nothing but lonely, and instead prefers to form close knit bonds with few others with strong boundaries typically enforced. It is akin to how many perceive women to be “complicated” when in actuality the feminine experience becomes much more comprehensible when boundaries are respected.

The wild untamed cat is the tiger to represent the unruly aspects of the subconscious and the tamed cat is the little orange guy to represent the more softer aspects of our minds.

Water is very often associated with subconscious and emotions and the lobster in the Smith-Waite version emerging from the water is meant to represent the early stages of consciousness starting to take shape.

I chose a serpent instead due to its attachment to the Kundalini in Ta***ic Art. Its connection to emotional freedom and rebirth aligns well.
