My name is Shelby Dyer and I am a self-taught crafter extraordinaire. I live in Kincardine with my partner and our dog, Sweet Potato. I have been knitting for 12 years. I come from a long line of crafters! My mum crochets and sews and my grandma knitted.
I make a lot of my own patterns and most products of mine are an original design. I source all my materials locally and my partner Ben, helps me pick out materials because he has a great eye for fun textiles. My family (chosen and biological) are my biggest supporters and cheerleaders and I am grateful for their encouragement.
I love a good challenge and as I am always cold, kitting and crocheting was something that came naturally to me. I am often inspired by the people and pets in my life. For example, my slipper socks which have been a best seller for a few years, came from a need that arose in my Mother-in law’s life. She had very sensitive and cold feet during her cancer treatments. I taught myself how to make her double threaded socks, which were also lovingly made from her mother’s yarn stash. I also sewed a hot pad cover for my sister-in-law who dealt with chronic pain. The cover was custom, and a really fun challenge. I am inspired when customers ask for custom ideas, and I am excited to put my own spin on every item I make.
I love baking, reading, caesar salad, BBQ’s in the winter, I am a killer at charades (just ask my sister-in-law!), and let's be honest, chocolate is the 5th food group! I always travel with a small skein of yarn, because you never know when you’ll get the opportunity to crochet or knit!
Thank-you for visiting my page and I look forward to creating more unique, fun and practical items for you and the greater Grey Bruce community!
