With peak season also comes planning for after peak season; preserving for winter & spring, whether that is canning, fermenting, dehydrating, or more. What’s your favourite method of preserving some of peak season’s abundance? We’d love to read your responses in the comment section.

The Midweek Market runs from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM, with vendors on the street so 400 block Victoria Street (between 4th and 5th Avenues) is closed between 7 AM and 3 PM. The market is located on the east end (nearer to 5th Ave) of the street and there is access to the TNRD parkade, The Plaza Hotel parking lot, and street parking on the west end of Victoria Street from 4th Avenue.

Motorists please use caution when driving in the vicinity and obey all traffic control devices and people.

For those using active transportation, bike valet at Riverside Park is open from 10 AM to 9 PM & accepts various active transportation devices.

Who else is dreaming of drizzling rain that could dampen wildfires and mitigate the smoke? Maybe for the weekend; we can hope. In the meantime, we have delicious local produce, honey, meat and more available at market.

We’ve all enjoyed the improved air quality the last few days, especially farmers who spend a fair amount of time working outdoors. Let’s hope it comes back soon & the rain we are so hoping for appears too! It’s peak season so there is a wide selection of local food choices available.

The Saturday market runs from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM in the 200 block of St. Paul Street in Downtown Kamloops

The separately run The Local Market will be set up in the parking lot behind the Kamloops Museum.

It’s hard to believe it is the middle of August already—the annual Kamloops Tomato Festival is less than a month away! We are in peak season with lots of tasty local produce. City of Kamloops ‘s Ecosmart team is also at market tomorrow, so bring your flexible plastics & unuseable books for recycling.

Did you know there will be a partial solar eclipse during market today? If the skies are clear and not smoky, it’ll be visible between 9 to 10 AM. Remember don’t look at it directly even with sunglasses. The Canadian Space Agency has more information and tips for safe viewing.
