🔔 Dear Traveller,
We are presently hovering between two eclipses, during which the Sun has already done something theatrical and the Moon is preparing to do something equally dramatic. But the heavens have provided absolutely no programme for the intermission.
Naturally, people are asking what this means. Fortunately, we have consulted the authorities. The only authority we were able to find is the Episcopus Apocryphal, or The Lesser Book of Things Which Will Eventually Be Done. An obscure illuminated manuscript attributed to Brother Amiable Firkin, Keeper of the Sacred Squid Sap, who appears to have begun his theological career with considerable promise before becoming distracted by a snail.
The snail in question is, of course, the Divine Snail of Pomegranate, Patron Saint of Someday. His doctrine is remarkably straightforward: The task remains. The snail proceeds. The next task awaits.
Apparently, while waiting for the Moon to get on with it, we are under no obligation to achieve enlightenment, transform our lives, purge eight generations of ancestral karma, vibrate at a groovier frequency or stand barefoot in the shrubbery receiving instructions from Jupiter.
We may simply putter about. Move a thing. Consider another thing. Begin a third thing and wander away halfway through after discovering a particularly interesting spoon. The Snail understands.
Indeed, scholars believe this may explain the mysterious passage known as The Revelation of the Timber, in which Brother Firkin abruptly abandons several centuries of philosophical inquiry to announce: THE WOOD IS WOODEN. This revelation is immediately followed in the margin by: IT IS WRITTEN IN THE TREES. Written what in the trees? Nobody knows. Brother Firkin does not elaborate to anyone except apparently a rabbit.
At this point we must consider the possibility that the sacred squid sap had fermented. Nevertheless, the central teaching remains sound. Between eclipses, when one great celestial spectacle has concluded and another is approaching, perhaps there is wisdom in refusing to gallop unnecessarily through the middle. Do what needs doing. Do what can be done. Leave the rest sitting somewhere obvious so you can remember what it was.
Fructus dubius. Cochlea certa. The fruit is doubtful. The snail is certain.
The heavens are rearranging themselves. The snail proceeds at the prescribed pace. 🌟🔔 Per Stellam et Sonum

🔔 Dear Traveller,
Today we are travelling through that fun bit of celestial real estate between two eclipses. The Solar Eclipse has departed while the Lunar Eclipse approaches and apparently the heavens have scheduled an interval for us to review our more recent choices and decisions. How thoughtful.
⚜ Judgement arrives first with the trumpet.
This is traditionally what happens when the universe has tried subtlety and concluded that was a supreme waste of star energy. Something has been seen. Something has been understood. Something has become sufficiently obvious that continuing to say, “Well, perhaps…” will now require supporting documentation, a DNA sample, and a small orchestra.
⚜ Death follows carrying the scythe. Not ominously. Efficiently. Death has reviewed the situation and would like to know why we are still watering things that died ages ago. "But I thought perhaps if I gave it another chance…" No. It is compost. Clear the way, Buckaroo.
⚜ Le Pape is next, because apparently, we're expected to learn something from all this. He represents the principles, wisdom and understanding that remain after experience has finished knocking over the furniture, eating the cake and reading your mail. It is not enough merely to survive one's lessons. Ideally, one eventually stops reenrolling in the same crash courses.
⚜ X of Deniers then places reality squarely upon the table. Receipts. Results. Patterns. What has actually been built rather than what everyone assured us they were definitely going to build any day now. The Deniers are terribly unfashionable about this sort of thing. They insist upon concrete evidence. Plans are neat but what have you actually done?
⚜ Ye aulde Queen of Swords has seen the evidence. She contains experience without requiring another seventeen conversations about it. She neither wastes herself on anger nor allows bitterness to become her folly. She has simply reached that glorious stage of wisdom known as: “Ah. I see. Huzzah, then.” This is frequently followed by considerably less nonsense.
⚜ And finally X of Wands. The last card runs the message home Dear Traveller, and this one has reached the end of the road. Action has gone as far as it needs to go. Effort has been made. Energy has been spent. The results are in. There is no medal for repeatedly charging the same hedgerow in the hopes of finding pirate treasure.
So, here we stand in the space between eclipses. The heavens are echoing for those Travellers who packed their bindles with discernment and a sense of humour.
Judgement: OI! 📯I saw that.
Death: Compost. Move along, Buckaroo. Things to do, here.
Pape: We are meant to have learned something worth integrating here.
X Deniers: Lovely plans. What did you actually build? Queen: Ah. I see. Roightio. Huzzah, then.
X Wands: Contain yourself magnificently and stop looking for pirate treasure in the fu***ng hedgerow. The results are in.
Some things require another chance. Others require a catapult and a stopwatch. If in doubt choose the latter. The universe opens the right doors to those wise enough to know when to close the wrong ones.

🔔 Dear Traveller,
There is an ancient and remarkably reliable method for discovering what you mean to people. It requires no divination, no complicated ritual, no moon water, no consultation with a suspiciously expensive oracle and absolutely no interpretive dance beneath the elder tree.
You simply pay attention.
Le Pendu arrives first and suggests that perhaps we stop turning ourselves upside down trying to understand behaviour that was perfectly clear the first hundred and seventeen times.
"But perhaps they didn't mean to… but they said… "
Sir/Madam. You are currently hanging from a tree inventing fairytale footnotes to a nonfiction book.
⚜ Justice has therefore been summoned.
She has brought the scales, her sword and the deeply unimpressed expression of a woman who has reviewed the patterns of correspondence.
She is not interested in what someone said. She is looking at what they did.
Did they show up? Did they make an effort? Did they consider you? Did they reciprocate?
Did their actions bear even a passing resemblance to their vocal declarations?
Justice enters the evidence into her log with the same amount of emotion fact lends to reality.
⚜ Enter the IIII of Cups, representing the sense of reciprocity between people in the giving, receiving, communication and care that make a relationship something more substantial than one person repeatedly arriving with an empty basket and an elaborate explanation while the other fills it without question.
People tell us what we mean to them all the time.
Sometimes with affection. Sometimes with loyalty. Sometimes with effort. And occasionally by behaving like an upturned rutabaga who has somehow acquired a plausible wardrobe.
The difficulty is not usually that the message wasn't delivered. It's that we didn't particularly care for the contents and attempted to send it back marked Return to Sender; mistake unknown.
There wasn't and it was. You just didn’t pay attention.
So, today's little illumination is simple: Watch what people do. You needn't chase them, interrogate them, convince them, translate them, rehabilitate them or hang upside down from a tree attempting to locate the hidden meaning behind their imbalance. There are occasions when the greatest clarity comes from accepting that there isn't one particular explanation.
Justice has weighed the matter. Le Pendu may now get down from the tree. It’s time to fill the cups for those who can hold them.

🔔 Dear Traveller,
The Moon is waxing toward her First Quarter, and the lunar celestial committee has apparently decided that we've had quite enough time to stand about admiring our intentions. It’s time to get motivated.
At the New Moon, L’Étoile offered possibility. A small light. A direction. Something worth tending. Something truly lovely. Tonight the Charioteer has arrived. He has brought sturdy wheels and is ready to ride.
There comes a point when possibility must become participation. The road does not require that you know precisely where it ends, but it does insist that you actually put your feet upon it.
Beside him sits the IIII of Wands where action gains structure and momentum with somewhere useful to go. The difference between declaring, “I really must do something about that,” and actually getting up and doing something about that.
The waxing Moon has been gathering light since the New Moon on the 12th. Today, at First Quarter, she reaches a turning point: half illuminated, half still hidden and progressing. You do not need the entire road illuminated before you begin travelling it. You just need enough light to see the next bit. Sometimes, that light will come from your heart.
So, make the telephone call. Begin the project. Plant the thing. Book the appointment. Open the door. Change direction if the old road has become ridiculous and riddled with circus traffic.
The stars may provide orientation, Dear Traveller, but at some point, you must drive the Chariot; and if the wheels squeak? Grease them with laughter and perseverance and then ring your bell and carry on. 🔔

🔔 Dear Traveller,
The End of July is upon us. The Marseille Ministry of the Meeting of the Minds has concluded. It did not go particularly well for some. Others found it to be particularly ducky and despite the Mercurial rip tides, reported that the water was just fine.
⚜Death arrived first wearing gardening gloves and cheerfully declared, "Nothing personal. I'm just here for the dead weight
⚜Then Judgement blew the biggest trumpet imaginable. "LAST CALL! If you're still pretending the red flags are decorative bunting, kindly report to Reality immediately." A surprising number of people suddenly developed selective hearing.
⚜Finally Justice entered carrying the books. She adjusted her spectacles, weighed everyone's nonsense on her scales and quietly announced: "Some of you have been overdrawn at the Bank of Goodwill since The Beach Boys have been on the charts."
Silence. Then one by one the excuses poured their drinks out, packed their little bindles and escorted themselves out through the rubbish chute.
So, if July has unexpectedly escorted a few people, habits or headaches toward the exit...Don't chase them.
Death has already stamped their departure papers.
XX Judgement has called their number.
VIII Justice has balanced the books.
🔔 Ring the bell. 🌟 Follow your star …and lock the gate.
Fresh possibilities have an awkward habit of arriving only after the cluster-jumble has bounced itself out the door and toddled off down the laneway toward their next appealing prospect. Remember, the universe abhors a void, so leave a little room for August to work its peculiar magic.

🔔 Dear Traveller,
Mercury Retrograde has finally concluded, although not before Le Fou accidentally rang the evacuation bell, released six highly opinionated sparrows into the Ministry of Cosmic Correspondence, misplaced Tuesday somewhere behind the pantry and attempted to file the Moon under "miscellaneous." Interesting times.
Three clerks have resigned dramatically through balloon o gram. Another fainted into a wheelbarrow. Someone's aunt is now engaged to a lighthouse and there remains a perfectly respectable gentleman insisting his umbrella has been impersonating him for weeks.
The good news is that the celestial paperwork has been restacked into something almost resembling order. Messages should now arrive at their intended destination instead of your former dance teacher, the village water dowser or that one ex who mysteriously awakens every retrograde with, "Hey... I was just thinking about you..." - Ew.
Now you can ring your bells. Sign the contracts. Answer the telephone without fear. Wear the feather boa and speak without wondering if every word you’ve said has fallen into a mercurial chasm.
Mercury now whistles for the roosters and takes to his chariot, muttering excuses into the hedgerow as he ascends. Le Fou, as always polishes the bells in preparation for the next cycle which begins under the gaze of a (mostly) benevolent lion and a more ordinary variety of madness.
