The Wall Garden

I originally envisioned this piece hanging in my studio in Orillia. I had the perfect spot picked out. As faith would have it, I kept forgetting to take it over. After the fire at the end of January, I really did not know what to do with it; but I am grateful it is still here.

It was difficult to photograph the full piece. I am still working on finding a good spot in my studio to properly display it. I think it looks amazing in person.

I have included some of the inspiration for the piece. I hope you like the idea, and will try your own version.

You have likely seen this jacket in our reels and highlights. It was a great base for the floral crochet applique. On its own it is a great jacket for spring through fall. It does not have a closure, but it can be easily added.

I think a quilted version of this jacket will be great without the facing, and add a cute bias binding around the edge.

The pattern includes several other pieces. It was easy to put together, and it is simple enough for beginners.

I used a medium weight cotton linen blend fabric. I think the weight of the fabric is great, and there is the perfect amount of structure.

Update: A new date has been added for our Beginner Sewing class. This is the only Beginner Sewing class that we are scheduling for the summer.

We will have smaller classes, workshops, and events. However, this class will not be available again until Fall.

If this group class does not work for you, you can explore our private sewing sessions. Please note that as we prepare for our Kids Creative Summer Camps in July, time is limited.

I have been crocheting for a very long time. I first learned from a book my mother bought me as a child. My grandmother who was a prolific crocheter, taught me how to read patterns.

Making crochet flowers is one of my favourite things to do. You can use them in so many fun ways. Last year I had so much fun making a flowers a day for the month of October. You can check that out in my highlights.

Lately I have been seeing so many beautiful crochet flowers on social media, and available in shops. On a recent trip to London , I saw a beautiful crochet flowers arrangement at Liberty of London.

Over the years, I have been inspired by all the talented IG and YouTube DIY creators I follow. Their amazing projects have motivated me to try my own projects; especially the cool wooden pieces and IKEA hacks.

For some time now, I have wanted to turn this IKEA bucher block kitchen cart into a beautiful, functional piece. I have had the piece for about 15 years. It has been great in my studio, and for craft shows. However, I wanted to close up the sides to create some hidden storage without the use of baskets.

The project came together well. I sanded, stained, and sealed the wooden top, added cross-stitched pegboard panels on three sides, and trimmed the sides with moulding.

This is the main panel for my large scale cross-stitching project. I have also done two other panels with a smaller flower. Together they will give a piece of furniture a fresh new look. I will reveal the final project tomorrow.

I learned how to crochet from my grandmother when I was around eight years old. I initially found patterns difficult and started creating my own designs. I find it easier to follow crochet symbols versus other instruction methods.

When I first started teaching crochet classes they were small group sessions. I very quickly realized that it was more effective to teach private sessions; where students can learn at their own pace and without apprehension.

Over the past ten years, our Crochet Basics class is one of our most popular classes. As students progress, we also work with them on their own projects at different skill levels. This year we want to offer something more, and provide students with options on where to take their crocheting skills.

We are introducing several new classes and will love your feedback.
