A fabric shop + creative workspace in Hamilton, Ontario Needlework is a modern fabric shop + creative workspace on James North in Hamilton, Ontario.

Equipped with in house sewing machines, large cutting tables, and our favourite designer fabrics, our mission is to provide Hamilton's craft community with a space where creative individuals can socialize, work on projects, share ideas and inspiration. We're open 7 days a week, excluding holidays. Mon: 2-8pm

Last minute class alert! 🚨 Join us TONIGHT from 6-9pm for our beginner friendly workshop, Sewing Basics 1!

In this workshop participants learn how to use a sewing machine and basic sewing techniques, like cutting, pinning and pressing fabric, all while making this cute envelope back pillow cover! Sewing Basics is the perfect stepping stone for folks who are eager to start their sewing journey in a fun, supportive and friendly environment! Good creative vibes abound! ✌️

It’s time for a merry craft night! Join us for a fun and festive evening of craft and holiday cheer! Bring your WIPS and/or your last minute sewing, stitching or knitting projects, plus non-perishable pantry items for Eva Rothwell, and craft in good company with fellow textile enthusiasts and NW pals! The has come to Tiger Town and our neighbourhood is officially Grey Cup Central! While football isn’t a subject we’re super knowledgeable on, we do know a handmade outfit when we see one. Emma is busting out our screen printing supplies for our Intro to Screen Printing workshop starting this Sunday! 🧑‍🎨

Open screen printing is a technique of passing ink over an uncoated mesh screen that has various resists (think cut outs, templates, tape, string etc) underneath. Once the ink is passed over the screen, the resist creates a unique print on the material underneath! A super beginner friendly approach to screen printing and a fun way to dabble in surface design.

There are a few spots still available — register online or give us a ring at the shop to save yourself a seat!

Join .M.Makes tomorrow evening for our first holiday workshop of the season: the Quilted Christmas Stocking! 🧦✨ This beginner-friendly project is a great way to build confidence using a machine if you’re relatively new to sewing! Participants learn how and when to swap a standard presser foot for a walking foot, how to accurately sew curves and attach a lining.

A sneak peek at a fraction of the exciting new knits we received late last week! We’re working away at getting these listed online, but in the meantime local pals can find these bamboo rib knits, sweatshirt terrys, matching rib(!) and so much tucked in along our garment fabric wall!

We’re so excited for our talented friend to join us this Tuesday for an evening of English Paper Piecing!

English Paper Piecing (EPP) is a traditional method of patchwork dating back to the 1700s. Geometric paper templates are used to stabilize small cuts of fabric while they are hand stitched together, creating a beautiful, scrappy mosaic! It’s easy to learn, portable and highly addictive — an ideal project to work on while binge-watching your fave TV show, or to bring along to craft night!

Also, since this class doesn’t require the use of our studio machines (and thus we’re not limited to our usual max of 5 students), we’re excited to offer a sliding scale registration fee for this one! Pay $55, $65 or $75 - whatever works for you. All materials included, and no previous sewing experience required! 🤗
