Hamilton Steelworkers Area Council

Hamilton Steelworkers Area Council Since the early 1940's Hamilton Steelworkers have played a key role in shaping employment laws, health and safety and WSIB legislation.

We've lobbied municipal, provincial and federal politicians to protect working people, unionized or not.

Today a great group of volunteers from our Area Council Locals got together once again to set up, barbecue and serve hamburgers and hot dogs to the many players and family members of Hamilton Challenger Sports Association.

What an amazing way to spend a Sunday!

Thank you to all who participated, you are appreciated.

As we close out this school year we are already getting prepared for the start of next year. Last year, with your help we donated more than 1850 backpacks filled with supplies to 49 public and Catholic schools. This year because of the overwhelming call for more we will donate over 2000.

But we need your help. Any and all donations go directly to the purchase of supplies and backpacks. See the poster below as to how you can donate.

When we gather to commemorate fallen and injured workers, we do so knowing the work has to continue. In 2026, there are still too many families suffering because of workplace injuries, preventable accidents, and unsafe conditions that should never have been allowed to exist in the first place.

Thanks to all the Steelworkers who attended and thanks to Hamilton and Hamilton & District Labour Council for hosting once again.
